Inspired by Cove\'s thread on Buddy\'s Saint, I thought I throw this guy out there as a Derby candidate after his impressive effort yesterday at GP.

Lightly raced with a good number as a 2yo. Yesterday was his second trip on dirt and he looked pretty good. Not sure what his number will be, but if he gets the normal 2-3yo progression(Distorted Humor 13-10) his pattern should put him in the mix. I would love to see him in the FOY even though it\'s only 3 weeks away.

Thoughts?

looking at the siblings section of Drosselmeyer\'s page in the Redboard room, that is one fast family.

Funny Cide notwitstanding, I usually don\'t like the Distored Humor\'s to get the mile and a quarter but his bottom side is full of stamina influences so I think this is one DH that can get the distance.

I like the fact that he has never taken a step backward yet (assuming that he at least paired yesterday).

He will have alot of wood to chop to get to the big dance as he\'s gonna have to keep moving forward to win enough money to qualify and Billy won\'t press too much to make that happen (i.e. I don\'t see him bringing the horse back in 3 weeks in what is shaping up to be an absolutely loaded FOY) but he\'s a good looking beast no doubt.

Maybe Billy tries him on the poly at Turfway or Keenland like he did with Hold me Back last year?

Agree Jim. I don\'t love the Distorted Humors going 10f either, but this one should get a good amount of stamina from his dam .... Tracked a legit pace and was able to withstand a strong ride from the 1/4 pole home without letting up. Juddmonte\'s Distorted Humor colt  also looked strong yesterday (4th). It\'s been a while since I\'ve seen so many good looking 3 yr olds stabled in one place. In fact, it\'s been a while since I\'ve seen so much great racing coming from one track. Really looking forward to the Donn card (though the Donn isn\'t looking that strong).

It really is amazing how many top 3 year olds there are right now in Florida.

All of these 3 yr old races down there are going to be absolutely loaded.

Billy Mott\'s record with Spring 3YOs right up there with fellow Hall of Famers
Allen \"the Chief\" Jerkens and the late Bobby Frankel.

Back with caution.

I think Drosselmeyer\'s race was decent, but not necessarily special.  Time will tell, but he is going to need substantial improvement IMO to hang with the best this spring.  2nd place finisher was absolutely trounced by Eskendereya in his last, and no one else in this race has done much thus far to impress other than break their maiden.  I actually thought the #7 horse Guys Reward showed some potontial talent in this race after a really wide trip for Gulfstream at 1 1/8th.  Not a derby horse at this point, but I may be looking to play that one next time back depending upon where he shows up. Have to like the way Drosselmeyer finished his last furlong in 12 and change though on a track that wasn\'t especially fast, indicating distance may not be an issue.

I was not impressed with Comic Marvel\'s race at all.  Best I can say is she had a bit of trouble in the race and rallied wide into a slow pace.  But 10,000CLM N2L went faster a few races earlier on the card, so I would be very skeptical of that one until she proves otherwise.

Gulfstream has had good size fields and excellent racing overall so far this year, which is good to see.  But I haven\'t seen any world beater 3 year olds yet.  The FOY will be very interesting.

Drosselmeyer received a hard ride from Kent D. and really had to make 2 (or maybe 3?) moves by my eye. So while the fig may not have been that great, I was impressed.
