First, I love the \"playing as a profession\" thread.  JB and Jellish are right, Kent is wrong.   I\'ve lived too long and seen too much to continue to suffer fools.  When it comes to understanding the the rudimentary mathematics of probability, Dr. Kent . . . you are . . . brilliant . . . and your analysis is completely uncolored by your personal, anecdotal, experience.
I bought stock in the Sport of Kings when they had their initial public offering in the early 90\'s.  I still have the prospectus somewhere.  I thought, \"Great, I have a way of finally sharing in the profits of bookmakers.\" . . .
I play 3 or 4 times a month at an offstrip book here in Vegas.  They have a VIP area in the back.  Smoking section is on the right.  There is an older gentleman there everytime I go, smoking high end cigars.  We often exchange pleasantries . . . he\'s generally there until noon or so, playing every race, at every track . . . then he leaves . . . He owned Sport of Kings . . . I\'m sure you\'d have a lot to commiserate with him about, Kent . . .

I never did business with Sport of Kings, but I suspect they lasted a year only because the boyz wanted to milk the cow, not make hamburgers.
