im looking at race 1 at AQ for 12-26..  now i dont get this.  check out Geno Green.. the horse gets a new trainer.. wins a claimer (after dropping down in class) of 10k at belmont 3 back.. goes to the meadowlands and wins a 20 k race.. goes to AQ last out and win a claimer of 12.5k going 7.5 furlongs and now switches to a better trainer and runs back at AQ at the 10k level?!  knowing this horse just ran and won 3 races in a row, why would these guys devalue the horse when it should be clearly stepping up in class?   the only thing i can think of is that something went wrong after that last race but if not why would u chance lowering its value and getting claimed if he were to fire a top race?  and obviously after 2 races back (winning a 20k) they dropped him anyway and he fired!  is there something im missing here?  i dont get it

They say never to answer a question with a question, but I have a question for
you:

Why are you supporting the travesty known as the New York Racing Association by
betting on their product?

After a 2 week hiatus, NYRA comes back with a Saturday card that looks like this:

R1- 10k claimers
R2- MSW
R3- Stk
R4- MCl
R5- MCl
R6- MSW
R7- 10k claimers
R8- Alw
R9- MSW.

NYRA\'s racing department is doing a poor job and they do not deserve your
patronage.

Happy Holidays to all.

First off, the B designation on the claiming level implies there is a time component in the conditions such as 10K claimer who has not won a race in 6 months or two races in six months or something along those lines.

#2 There have been two trainers, and Autrey recently claimed this one for 12K and waited the four weeks (often referred to as the penalty box) whereby the trainer would have had to raise his claiming value. By waiting and not racing for four weeks the trainer can place the horse at whatever class or condition he or she wants. In this case, if you win the race you collect 60% of the purse so you get 10K for the win, and you get 10K for the claim if you lose the horse. You just made 8K in four weeks. The trainers are not in love with this horse. It\'s there to make the trainer and owner money (in principal) .

A lot of trainers do this especially in these economic times where claiming is down.

#3 The fact that he lowered the value of the horse, might scare some people away from claiming the runner, and if he wins...see #2.

Anyway  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

I appreciate it Tony!  i just wanted to get an idea of the what actually goes on with that situation cause it didnt make sense to me.

and richiebee.. i am scanning thru figures here for multiple races since they are free looking for what i am going to play for the weekend.  i kno the AQ card looks like poops but the info is there and maybe there is value in something within the mess.  i just happened to see a horse pop a few races and then saw the whole claiming situation so that got me to question it.
