Randy Moss notes in his current DRF blog entry that the Beyer speed figures for both Zenyatta and Life Is Sweet jumped when they finally got a decent pace to run at in the Breeders\' Cup.

Interesting that both horses merely paired their tops on TG.  Long ago there were lots of postings about the effect of pace on figures, with TGJB arguing that pace wasn\'t very significant in the vast majority of cases.  Maybe he was right.  Maybe the effect of pace depends on how figures are made, and making them off the horses, TG-style, mitigates the effect of pace.
