Steven Crist, in Monday\'s DRF, in a piece entitled \"Wrong Time For This Cup Plan\",
discusses that the BC powers that be have discussed setting up a fixed rotation
of BC host sites for the next 10 years. The 2010 BC will be run at CD, the 2011
BC will be run at Belmont.

After that the BC will be run, according to one proposed rotation, at CD and
Belmont, and at five other tracks all with synthetic surfaces-- Oak Tree,
Arlington, Del Mar, Keeneland and Woodbine (Query-- what of Monmouth, Gulfstream
and Lone Star, all of which have successfully hosted a Cup in the past?)

Says St. Steven, who could serve as a lightning rod in the much needed renovation
and eventual resurrection of Racing if he weren\'t so busy doping out multiple
race wagers:

\"The primary reason to delay a decade of commitments is the completely
unresolved issue of whether these races should be run on synthetic racetracks
going forward, due to the questionable future of such surfaces in American racing.
While opinion remains sharply divided about these surfaces, many people on both
sides say that they were installed hastily, that their alleged safety benefits are
unproven, and that it is unclear whether they are the future of the sport or a
brief historical oddity. No additional tracks are currently undertaking
conversions to synthtic surfaces and there is talk that some California tracks
will switch back to dirt in the years ahead.\"

I don\'t think Gulfstream could play host to the BC anymore because of its new set up.
