my filly is running tonight in the 5th at Hollywood.  Glisten.  First time North America.  Terrible post so we are going to lose some ground and she\'s coming off of a long layoff but she\'s training well and we have Bejarano up so we have a punchers chance.

good luck to everyone this weekend on a great weekend of racing.

Silver Charm

Good Luck to you tonite and this weekend. Glad someone else noticed all of the great racing.

They almost created two Boards here once. One for Chuckles the Clown who is now banned. Wish they had done it anyway and they could use it as The Drug Board.

well, on that topic, everyone will be happy to know that my filly had a bad reaction to lasix when it was administered for two of her breezes so she races completely drug free tonight, no laisx.

there really is some terrific racing this weekend.  Things are starting to build for the Spa and Del Mar.  Absolute best time of the year when those two meets are going!

Belmont Saturday:

10 race card.

5 maiden races, including an all maiden early P4.

Terrific.

I don\'t know what you guys were hoping for, but I was hoping Bejarano would take it easy on her -- a year away, no Lasix -- and he seemed to do just that.

How did she come back? Did she scope OK?

covelj70

thanks for asking,

she came back perfect.  scoped clean.  just got tired after the year layoff.  I was hoping she would run better but it was pretty much as expected.

really appreciate the thoughts.

good luck today.

come on, there\'s graded stakes galore all around this weekend with nice fields.  Hollywood, Arlington and Woodbine all look like really good cards.

Let\'s focus on the positive!

Great, now I know what a Detroit Lions season ticketholder
feels like after they get a letter from the front office.

Hollywood, Arlington and Woodbine. Artificial.

I devote the amount of time to Racing which it takes to
follow one circuit. As recently as the mid 90s, this
circuit was probably the home of the best Racing in the
US, at least for nine months of the year. During the
winter months, there was a noticeable drop off in quality
of horseflesh, but the product was entertaining.

I hope that the cards that NYRA have put on in recent days
are indicative of the fact that the quality NYRA horseflesh
is being saved for Saratoga racing. What I\'ve seen recently
is the further \"Colonialization\" of Belmont: Cheap horses
on turf = big fields. And while I\'m on NYRA\'s lawn, when is the
last time a non stakes turf race has been carded at a distance
longer than 9f?

This is what happens when Racing is not being run by Racing
people, its being run by auditors, attorneys and a less than
efficient state government.

Richiebee,

Do I wish we were in a better spot with New York racing?  Absolutely.  However, I try to focus on the positive when possible and there were plenty of good races to go around this past weekend so that was my focus.

In terms of doing my part to make a difference.  The horses I buy and breed are are at least reasonably well bred fillies which go long on the turf.  Not that my \"vote\" makes a difference but if all owners and breeders stayed away from buying/breeding pocket rockets that can be pinhooked at the sales, the horse racing world would be a better place.

Matter of fact, I am all for getting rid of the two year old sales all together.  One of the main reasons the breed has changed is the pinhookers making a quick buck.  If there was no outlet for the pinhookers at a 2 year old in training sale, then no one would buy the pocket rockets and we would stop breeding them.  I do think this would make the horse racing world a better place.
