Hollywood cancels Thursday card-not enough horses entered

http://www.drf.com/news/article/103335.html

Field size is down in most places (recent AQU meet was terrible).  Outside of Florida (GP and TAM), the only tracks that consistently have big fields are those with slots, many of which run at night or aren\'t on major circuits (Evangeline, CT, Penn Nat). SoCal racing is in big trouble with the fact that the major outfits aren\'t keeping a lot of horses out there. If Hollywood closes, there will be a ripple effect and SA will be hurt by the lack of stall space. Bay Meadows\' closing has already destroyed NoCal racing in the same way.  Now the same outfit is in the process of destroying Hollywood and SoCal racing.

It\'s a great time of year with the Derby, but the game is in very bad shape--I wish there were a centralized body that could get all the circuits to cooperate and find a way to preserve this wonderful sport. Bigger fields mean bigger payoffs.
