My Derby Top 5. Anyone of these can win IMO:

POTN - Out of all the contenders he and CC are the ones that appear to have the most room for a forward move IMO. Appears to like the CD surface and is heatlhy
Fresian Fire - Can move forward. Ideal pattern. Lightly raced and in expert hands with Jones. Very solid contender.
Dunkirk - Might not win but can pair his last and is dangerous. Respect
IWR - Best athlete of the bunch. If he moves forward off the Wood, he wins
Chocolate Candy - Like POTN has room for a significant forward move. Would like to see him with a sharp work this week.

Livest longshots: Win Willy, Mr Hot Stuff, Musket Man

Did you learn anything from your donation to the parimutual pool on behalf of Colonel John last year?

Why do you think that POTN and CC are the most likely to move forward?

Uncle Buck

Sorry guy. Never played Colonel John. You must be thinking of P-Dub - my fellow West Coast \"fed up with east coast elitism\" compadre. Here was my 2008 Derby proclamation - there were many others as well: You might remember this and please note I proclaimed him the winner a good 25 days prior to the race: http://www.thorograph.com/phorum/read.php?1,41470,41470#msg-41470

Best part of this thread is seeing CTC\'s name littered all over the thread. Brings back memories.....

dlf

Cove,
It\'s not the same without CTC around at Derby time. Wish JB would give him a one week reprieve so we could be privy to the thoughts of the \"greatest Kentucky Derby handicapper who ever lived\".

CTC was a great tomato can for Richiebee - miss the very witty barbs coming out of Richie...

Beginner:

I appreciate the compliment, but I never considered the Clown an easy mark. He
got his shots in at me also. It was kind of like a Disraeli/Gladstone back and
forth, without the political/historical significance.

The Clown\'s comments (for those who miss them)are available on the Rag board.
His nom de course is \"Cube\". The erstwhile \"Classhandicapper\" may also be found
at that site, still rambling on about pace.

For those who travel not to the dark side but crave Derby Clownmentary, I will
on a one time only basis try to interpret current Cubist thinking on the Derby.

In his last post at Chez Rag, Cube laments that many of his potential 09 Derby
picks have fallen by the wayside, most recently the Porterized (my comment, not
Clown\'s) Old Fashioned. Clown/Cube still thinks Unbridled\'s Song will be a
factor in the outcome, but thinks an unseasoned Dunkirk is not yet ready to be
effective past 9 furlongs.

Clown implies that he expects chaos this year in the Derby. Clown intimates
that he had success wagering in this years Blue Grass. Could it be that
Clown/Cube has gone sentimental on us and is endorsing General Quarters, whose
dam is a daughter of Unbridled\'s Song?

While April 23 is way to early for Clown to make a firm Derby selection (in the
past some have accused him of past posting his Derby pick) my educated
interpretation is that the Clown/Cube will have at least a small investment on
gimmicks which include GQ in the top spot and Dunkirk underneath.

Interpreting the Cryptic Clown/Cube Derby Selection Code never an easy chore,
especially so far in advance of post time. I will now turn to easier tasks,
such as identifying the Unknown Soldier and determining the whereabouts of
Osama Bin Laden.

Monmouth,

You are really a piece of work. After my \"East Coast bias\" comment,  which was directed at journalists in general,  you sent me a little person to person message. Your feelings were a little hurt even though I never called out anybody specifically by name.

Now you want to run your mouth at Uncle Buck,  making a snide remark about betting California horses in the Derby last year.  He made a post where he specifically mentions Big Brown as his key horse....unlike a certain Monmouth Guy.  Let me refresh your memory on who you played last year.

Thanks. I eventually changed my mind and used CJ on top w/ BB because of his CD work, so I was wrong, too. I think Gayego got the worst trip of the day, so I would throw his race out. Think he is the class of Cali. I think CJ and Pyro are just too slow.

Who needs the Clown back when you can obviously double speak with the best of them.  Looks like you did some donating yourself.

*According to a press release from Churchill Downs, I Want Revenge has some abrasions on his left knee.

\"He got cast in his stall the night before his first work here,\" said Jeff Mullins in the press release.\"  You can see the scrapes on his head and everywhere else.

jimbo66

Number5858,

That is some misleading information.

Here is the complete post:

I think he\'s just peaking now,\" trainer Jeff Mullins said. \"He looks just as good as he did in New York, maybe a little better. For as much traveling as he\'s done for a young horse, he hasn\'t missed a beat. I don\'t think he\'s ever come out of his feed tub one time.\"

Mullins will send the Kentucky-bred colt to the track Tuesday morning right after the renovation break, although he said he hadn\'t decided whether the workout will be four or five furlongs.

While getting his morning bath following his exercise Monday morning, I Want Revenge looked like the picture of health, except for a few minor abrasions on his left knee.

That Figures. Sorry I saw it presented that way. Thanks for the additional context.

Myself, I was thinking more like \"Disraeli Gears\" & gallstones.
