anyone know the success rate?  Is there any correlation to the suspended trainers and what their charges do at stud?  Maybe a circle bigger than just Steve\'s horses?

Going back to the late 80\'s & early 90\'s, there was much speculation with Wayne Lukas on this subject. Not only with the studs, but the mares as well.

Obviously, just chatter.

Silver Charm\'s Dam was once trained by the infamous Oscar Barrera. Patrick Byrne trained Awesome Again, and Byrne caught a major positive in Saratoga one year. Medaglia d\'Oro was Frankel....Harlan\'s Holiday was Pletcher....Whywhywhy was Biancone....Lido Palace...

My mistake Steve. Harlan\'s Holiday was Kenny McPeek. However, Awesome Again eventually landed in Byrne\'s barn, and that\'s the topic of this thread.

Seems to me rather irrelevant who trained as far as the breeding shed goes.Look at the great champion mares trained by Shug Mc Gaughey for Phipps.It has been said that those champion mares ran \"cold\"(just about no meds/drugs by Phipps orders) Considering their breeding and racing accomplishments, they generally have been major disappointments in the breeding shed.

Easy Goer, same outfit, also was a failure at stud.

Mike, you are right.  It does go both ways, I guess.  What I am really trying to discern is whether the drugs take their toll in the shed.  then again, were there sires that were definitely on drugs doing well in the shed?  I guess we\'ll know with Curlin soon enough.  He\'s Asmussen\'s best runner by far (well, I guess he\'s ANYONE\'s best runner by far measuring on NA earnings).

Asmussen trained Cuvee. He\'s #14 on the fresman sire list and had his fee raised from $6500 to $10k. In this market, that\'s saying a whole bunch.

the last 10 outs he was under Todd Pletcher.

I pretty sure that Easy Goer was actually a fairly solid sire, but he only had 4 crops in total before his death.  He sired Will\'s Way, Furlough, and My Flag and is the BM sire of Monba, Corinthian, and Storm Flag Flying among others.

He had 133 foals, 4 crops, 8 stakes winners. Hardly fairly solid,imo but I can see your side.Might have turned out a better brood mare sire with his lineage.
