I\'m even more disgusted now that I see that Black Seventeen ran a -5 in that last Belmont Race.  I remember some people talking about how you could have had him in that race...How the hell did that horse run a -5 off a pair of 3\'s??? I don\'t think I\'ve ever seen such a jump up in my time reading the sheets.  If that number is right, the horse shouldn\'t have been able to stand up the next day never mind run anything close to it again.

The jump was off a 1 top earned at 3 on the dirt, still a big jump, he moved 10pts off his 2 yr top, sire shows avg 8pts from 2-4 yrs old. I seen worse.

That neg-5 is very isolated when comparing it all of BS\'s previous races on TG. When comparing his fig\'s on other reliable data, it comes up neg -2.5.His previous figs were equal to TG 1\'s on several occasions, so it\'s not that far a stretch, fig wise.Going in,I could not use him at all on TG figs and race shape.

The fig was also earned on a wet track and we have discussed here that freaky  isolated figs which occur on wet surfaces are often never repeated.

I didn\'t see it coming...where was this effort (not big race)...just effort when he ventured to SAR in the summer...If you want to move him up on the off-track...that\'s more plausible since the SYN-types appear to move up when going from syn to off-track plus his TOP was earned over the off-track at Calder - he is clearly a throw out on that tight carpet over at SA....

Black Seventeen was badly outworked and fell apart at the end of his last workout and the commentators on TVGs the works all didn\'t like what they saw. I think the work was a 46 chg on Oct 12th. Maybe he can improve in his next drill, something to monitor.
