Just back in town after tending to an ill Oregonian relative...

Attended the Belmont (37 years running----Canonero II was my maiden Belmont voyage) and then flew to Oregon where I managed to avoid Portland Meadows for 9 days.

My observations:

Spent a lot of the day watching the women stand in line for the many closed restrooms....
Managed to use a Co-ed restroom at one point....

managed to sweat quite a bit too.

the whole show was a riot.

Don\'t look for my 50 $2.00 win tix on BB on Ebay. I\'m thinking of bundling a package of Silver Charm, Real Quiet, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones tc etc tix with
BB.
By the time this strategy pans out, I will be lucky to breakeven...lol.

Why can\'t the tellers punch a exacta box the first time?

Racing musings:

Zito said he ran DT because of Commendable (TG-2 1/2) He should have said because of AP Indy (3 1/2) or Thudner Gulch (4) or Touch Gold (3) or Victory Gallop (2 1/4)...etc etc) Maybe he could of said Secretariat (don\'t know his number...lol)

Not to drive the host nuts and I am not auditioning for Chuckles role but:

I felt that a pronounced bias existed for the early speed types and this was evident long before the feature race.
I felt the track played pretty quick as they stepped 108.4 in the 1st and 7f went 121.4 later in the card.
That made the Belmont seem inordinately slow to me.

Therefore, I checked the Tgraph figs for the race and was surprised to see DT beat AP Indy, Touch Gold, and every other winner from 1992-2000....?? In fact SILVER CHARM never ran one as fast as DT if I read his sheet correctly??

I then added 1 point and 2 points to each horse and I could see the race still looks ok. So, considering the Bel. Stakes was the only 2 turn race and the only race at the 12f distance, how can one be sure that the final fig is correct??

Did u isolate this race?
If so, why would this race not work if you added the 1 point or even 2 points to each of the figs?

I ask this from an educational standpoint as I think this particular Belmont (with the very slow clocking and margin of victory) versus some other reasonably fast clockings etc. would make for a good example of what factors u employed to come the your final figs?

Thanks

Bob
