1) Obviously quite impressed with Big Brown. At one point in the race, on the
backside, it seemed like he \"came out of the bridle\" as the riders and trainers
like to say, whereas the truth was Kent D seemed to be giving him a breather.
A huge effort which looked even huger than it really was against an overmatched
bunch of surface and distance challenged colts. Will be interesting to see
whether physical or financial pressures will prevent this one from pursuing and
capturing the Triple Crown.

Beyond the Triple Crown races, hard to imagine they keep this one in training
for a Polytrack Breeders Cup Classic, though they might target next years Dubai
race as an alternative.

2) The death of Eight Belles seems to be affecting me more than did the death of
Pine Island or the injury/death of Barbaro. I am angry right now and anyone who
has read my posts regarding Eight Belles or Rockport Harbor knows why. I feel
very sorry for all of the humans connected with this filly, but not for her
owner or for her trainer.
