Quite frankly I cannot presume to know what Asmussen is exactly thinking.I base my opinions on what a rational person in this situation would think or do.I hate the way this will sound and not because it\'s being directed towards you specifically,but
in my experience gearing up for an event(and I\'m speaking about myself and not a horse)I want to be relatively close to mental and physical form 60 days out.I think
Nicklaus said it best,\"I start preparing myself for the Masters 6 months in advance\".

I doubt anyone expects him (or War Pass) to run a negative at this stage, but they were so darn fast last year you sort of expect some forward progress with each passing race this year.

It will be interesting to see what he earned for this race. IMO, his slow race last time was excusable regardless because the pace was so darn slow. This time he also waited for awhile before finishing very well. So I doubt that was his best possible effort for this stage either.

But if he didn\'t move forward a bit, I\'d start getting a little skeptical and start thinking that someone else is going to move past him in the next few weeks (given that he\'s one of the favorites in the futures betting now).
