Maybe you can answer this as I would suppose you guys are have or hear of info that us \"regular\" people are not. Do you think it is more likely than not that Mott and his staff have gotten their hands on something \"illegal\" that makes his % shoot up the way it has over the last month or has he just gotten his horses ready for this meet?

Thanks.

I am not TGJB or TGAB but in my opinion he has better stock than he has had in the past five years or so.  That always helps.

Wrongly

And he popints for this meet!

And it helped him that it didn\'t rain.

Horsegoer,
When Mr. Irwin catches wind of your question,you will have the answer in spades.

TGAB

I haven\'t heard anything.
TGAB

I remember the year he was interviewed after the meet and said he thought he knew what it would take to win at Saratoga. The next year he lead, and the next....then Pletcher and his two year olds, and Pletcher....

Horsegoer:

Something a little less than due diligence on your part before posing your
\"Mott got his hands on something this meet\" inquiry:

A) I think Bill Mott at the time of his induction was the youngest trainer ever
admitted to the Racing Hall of Fame;

B) Bill Mott was leading trainer at Saratoga multiple (I think 5) times before
this year;

C) Before setting up shop primarily in NY, Mott had been a leading trainer at
tracks such as Churchill, Arlington, Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, etc (multiple times
at most of these tracks I\'ve mentioned);

D) In a DRF article (maybe Crist) written in 2006, it was pointed out that only
2 trainers who were active for the 20 years between 1986- 2006 maintained a win
percentage over 20%-- Bob Frankel and Bill Mott;

E) Rick Dutrow and Scott Lake routinely serve more suspension time in a year
than Mott has served in his career.

Must be mentioned: This superior HORSEMAN has put up big numbers at the Spa
without a barn full of NY Breds. (All you need to know about the quality of
this years Spa meet is that Gary Contessa, with a barn full of claimers and
NYBs, has saddled over 100 horses).

Well put. I remember being so impressed with him when he was young, the year he was 30, and I think Shug was too, I saw them standing with Rusty Arnold at Kee and thought \"that\'s the future\". 2/3 ain\'t bad. Bill had just gotten a sprinter to stay the Bluegrass, and I had driven all night to get there to bet him. He is the real deal in my opinion and always has been, personally and professionally.

He more than deserves to be considered \"above reproach\".

Richiebee,

Very well put. I wondered how that post made it to the board.

horsegoer

Richiebee, very well put. I always knew Mott was a great \"horseman\" but never to the extent you mentioned. I have a new found respect for him, I guess one I should of always had.
