I read an  article a few months ago  about a way to translate TimeForm numbers into approximate
Beyer numbers and  have no idea how valid it is.  Have you guys
ever delved into translating TimeForm #s into estimated sheet #s?

TGJB: You can come up with a rough translation, but there are problems.

1. It assumes Timeform is accurate. They tend to lowball non-British figures.

2. It\'s a real pain in the butt. On Beyer a 105 is a 105, TG a 6 is a 6. On Timeform, a 111 for a 3yo filly in May does not equal 111 for a 4yo colt in October.

Michael D.: Take a look at Globeform.com..... they make an attempt at comparing the European horses to the American horses. I am not sure how accurate they are, but it is interesting reading.

Michael D.: One additional note on TimeForm. At the European tracks, they put out an analysis for $10. The book does not pick winners, but gives great information on all of the horses. I get the feeling that they themselves do not think of their numbers as scientific, but more of a guide that should be used in conjunction with their analysis. So while not criticizing their numbers, I would not use any steadfast rule while handicapping the European horses using TimeForm numbers.
