last year, after the Preakness, and all the talk of evidence that big forward moves and negative numbers take a huge toll on a horse, I hypothesized that if that were true it would make it almost impossible for a horse to win the triple crown as the frequency of negative numbers increased. In fact, I said there were only two scenarios with promise;

1) an incredibly weak year with awful horses, and 1 good one
2) a horse to run strong negative as a two year old, who could then theoretically move through the triple crown with no forward moves, and even backwards move, as a 3yo.

Street Sense is now in a position to test that, having gone strong negative as 2yo, going 2T, at CD. Someone just needs to explain to Nafzger to go easy on the horse for the next 6 months and not train him to jump up and run an even bigger number next year

I\'m more interested in Great Hunter.  He looks like a classic Derby candidate;  fast late in the season as a 2yo-but not too fast, good breeding(another PA bred ala Smarty Jones- LOL), off the pace running style, the kind of owner and trainer who can point for a big race.  He\'ll need some rest and will need to come back running.  What are his future\'s odds...anyone?
