Two straight super bets...Barbaro on top,Brother Derek,Sweetnorthernsaint,and Greeley\'s Legacy with Like Now.....4th.

Any super ticket with Barbaro on top is a terrible underlay IMO.

I was looking at the super trying the same angle as Spa. I will not be betting the super, however, in any event.  The take on the super at Pimlico is over 25%.  With a less than full field, that level of a take will be felt more accutely over the remaining combinations.  (with a 12 horse field, the take is split over 11,880 combinations -- in a 9 horse field there are only 3,024 combinations.  That difference is significant). The Trifecta will be a total joke because it has the same sky high take and even less combinations for shouldering the burden.

Has anybody noticed how absurdly high the take is in Maryland?  I think I will only bet Pick 3s and Pick4s where the take is a very player friendly 14%.

Interesting situation in Maryland , wager\'s on horse racing can be made on Lottery style machines in mom & pop type stores . Based on those take out numbers , MD racing must be living way beyond their financial means and yuking it up all the way at the bettors and taxpayers expense . Perhaps the cost of digging up that old trophey that was buried up there during the civil war is one which will need to be defrayed for some time to come .

Maryland racing has come down a few pegs in the last decade , KTL is paramount in holding the circut togther and as goes KTL so went Maryland Racing .

This could be just another case of Corporate Socialism running amuck or perhaps it\'s wholesale incompitence on the public and private side of Maryland Racing that is responsible for the high take outs and an overall deminished status for racing in that state  . And again , another example of poeple in leadership positions in the Racing Industry that need to take a little pride in their jobs ...

Value won\'t be easy to find in this years Preakness but Jerry\'s play in his race analysis has the best shot for cashing a decent ticket  +  now that I\'m straightend out on Brother Derek , I\'m also going to double up w/ BD on top and throwing the other 3 underneath .

     Marcus,
Would love to know precisely what you mean by ragozin low-balling ktl!!
His demise was rather quick for someone that ranked at the top for so long.

marcus

davidrex - I don\'t want to say more than I know about this so perhaps Jerry can address this at some point down the road ...

Marcus-- no idea where you got the idea KTL went with Ragozin. He gets our stuff every day, and I sent him the Preakness sheets in advance so they could make a decision about Ah Day.

My Mistake and My Apologies to All - I\'ll take the post down about KTL and check with you in advance of writing any further such post\'s . It was my understanding and inncorrectly so , that  your service\'s to find and manage race horse\'s for KTL  either stopped or were put on hold aound the early to mid 1990\'s for reasons unknown to me  . Sorry about that , No Malice to you Jerry , TG or KTL was intended  and but except for about one weekend a year , MD racing is riding on your backs . . .  But now I have to ask -  Where does Ah Day go next ( after today ) ?
