Although it appeared Paragallo had won for the second week in a row when he announced it was a back injury and not a front foot that stymied \"Achilles.  Then oddly opted for the Arkansas Derby.

But no sports fans John Ward wins this weeks award. As I write his colt Strong Contender is on interstate 75 a half an hour from Lexington. But the van is not moving. Why?

The \"Beam\" is full because of the backroom exploits of Zito and Lukas and Strong Contender was excluded! Now Ward cannot decide what to do as he contemplates north to NY or even a complete turn around. For my money he should run in the Rushaway, but when he fired me some twenty years ago I stopped helping him.  BBB

Hard to see how this is Ward being the \"dumb trainer.\"  His horse was excluded due to an overdraewn field.  The Rushaway doesn\'t help;  it\'s not a Graded race, and this horse needs Graded earnings.  He has to race somewhere else.  If you think Ward\'s a dummy for pushing this horse onto the Derby trail, that\'s a different discussion.

I was thinking the Illinois Derby would be easier pickings for graded earnings, but I am hometown biased.
