Fall Highweight

What ever happened to the good old days when the top weight used to carry 140 lbs?

They should rename the race to the Fall Middleweight Handicap.

     I would imagine some of the highweighted horses may have ended up in the DeFrancis race at Laurel or the Cigar Mile.

     In any case, 11 horses all weighted between 123 and 127, should be a good betting race, no?

The best reason to tune into the Fall Highweight is the possibility of seeing Brown and Freidman settle their differences in the paddock at the big A. Racing meets pro wrestling. Think of the marketing opportunities, the story lines.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Even though the real Thanksgiving is celebrated the first Monday in October. Better late than not at all.

To be honest, I don\'t care if horses are getting faster, but why would this be so troubling?  Track athletes from Forego\'s time would be lucky to win at a decent college meet today.  It doesn\'t make them any less great.

With the equipment now excluded from being counted in the \"official\" weights (varies by track!), they may actually be carrying 140+ lbs!

None issue  the future is my next bet. to me the numbers speack for themselves. i like to win. Once the horse crosses the finish line i\'m looking for the next chance to win.

You are correct EXCEPT that horses are not bigger or stronger the way humans are now.From all the research I have done it seems that some people automatically thought that the horse followed all species and evolved accordingly.Not even close, as horses go.

Look at track photos of top horses from the 50\'s, 60\'s and 70\'s.  Some of the older horses look like *yearlings* today.  Horses are getting bigger faster and stronger and probably not through \'evolution\'.
