High Fly in the Jerome

It\'s a couple days away, but I noticed that Nick Zito has High Fly entered in the Jerome. High Fly\'s Derby trip and finish was very similar to Flower Alley\'s and Belamy Road\'s. I used him in the Preakness, thinking all 3 had actually run a very good race. He was dreadful that day, but the other 2 have since more or less vindicated the view. We all know that Zito usually gets them ready off a layoff. Well here\'s one that is spotted in a tough race, but one that should be well within the range of a horse with similar ability to those other 2 as of early May. The distance looks perfect. If you can overlook the obviously dreadful Preakness, Nicky Boy may have found a very good spot for another of his spring 3YOs to begin a fall campaign. No Grade 1 horses in here.

Expect a big effort from High Fly. Bailey said three weeks ago after a workout that he thought he finally \"felt\" the Mid-Winter Florida version of High Fly under him again.

Live Oak\'s Electric Light is on the mend (and on the muscle), as well by the way...

Keep in mind this may not be the ultimate goal for this horse, and may still be a prep race in My opinion, but can understand your thought process on this one.

I couldn\'t take High Fly at 6-5, but isn\'t it ironic after yesterday\'s race that Dutrow stole the Jerome with Silver Train. He probably would have won anyway because High Fly really didn\'t look so hot in the last 1/8, but I think Zito needs to enter a few rabbits for the rematch!!!!  :)

Just home from a really enjoyable BEL weekend... Watched the Jerome with Mrs. Weber and she was fully satisfied. Zito had told Bailey to only do what High Fly was \'doing on his own\'. JB had wrapped up on him for the last eighth when it became clear that Silver Train was not getting caught.

Do you think that this means that Zito will be sending 3 of his \"Derby 5\" to the BC Classic? (High Fly, Bellamy, Sun King) (assuming continued soundness).

I can\'t recall if the size of BC race fields are limited to 12 entries. This would be a shame to exclude horses (at least at Belmont) where all 3 surfaces are wide enough to safely accommodate up to 16 runners.

bdhsheets

14 entrants allowed in the BC races.
May they all come home safely!
