liftin on OTB channel saying the new NYRA super is keeping the surfaces tighter than the old guy, and the NY tracks are faster than they used to be. is this true?

Michael-- remind me in a week, we\'ll look at all the dry tracks from the first week at Sar this year and last and compare average \"speed\".

Questions like that get real complicated because there are a lot of variables. I\'ll tell you one thing this guy does that is different-- even when the track is \"fast\", he sometimes seals the main track before a grass race, then breaks it open again before the next dirt race, or seals it in the morning, then breaks it open just before racing.

On 6/30, for example, he sealed the track at 11:00 a.m., harrowed at 12:30, sealed it before 6 (grass), harrowed it AFTER 6, resealed it again right away before 7 (also grass), harrowed it again after 7. He didn\'t add any water to the track all day. Very unusual. I had the track at one speed for all the races before they sealed it and unsealed it twice in the middle of the card-- the only dirt race after that I had the track about 4 1/2 points slower.

track doesn\'t look any faster to me. slower maybe? or maybe it\'s just the heat.

i have to take a shot in the 4th here with ultra pop. ran a nice op \"12.5\" in his first, then an excellent \"7.5\" in his second. they brought him back a bit quick at a distance, and he said no. returns sprinting here, and gets a good pace to run at. w/p at 7-1/......

well, i put a \"9\" next to june the tiger, and an \"8\" next to ultra pop. i would have been perfect if i had just included a \"1\" before that \"8\". LOL!
