It is hard to know if Twitter sources are to be trusted.

However, 5 hours ago there was a post that Leon Blusiewiecz is in his final days.  I passed this along to some of TGOG\'s.  They asked me to post it on the board.

Read the same tweet.
Never met the gentleman, did listen to him on Byk.
Used his crab cake recipe a few times.
Definitely an old school straight shooter, love those types.
Wish him and his family all the best.

One of the true characters of the game. Never bashful to boast on a horse he liked or bet that horse with both fists. Will be sad to lose the Blu Crew.

Didn’t he enter a maiden in the derby once? Maybe it was a horse with only a maiden win.

jerry

Apparently it was neither. The horse was Millions. It’s coming back to me now.

Here’s a link to a pretty nice article about him. He was a character.

As he said on ATR in May, \"I\'m not running out of money, I\'m running out of time\" and Blu passed this morning.. There will not come another like Leon Blusiewicz, a direct connection to the game’s last 8+ decades. His wit and wisdom engaged all that listened and enhanced their enjoyment and understanding of the sport. In addition to his outsized personality, Blu was a consistently successful horseman and brilliant pedigree tactician. We were lucky to have him on the scene for as long as we did and all should be forever grateful for his friendship and generous spirit.. ðŸ'™

Steve,

Condolences to you on this loss.

One TGOG has told me that he was running bets for Leon in the late 70s for as much as $5k. . . that lost!

The 2022 story posted by Drf.com and on X/Twitter is awesome also.  Apparently he had a dream about the pick 4 numbers.  For the LOTTERY, not the horses.  In Exact order.

1122.  So he went and bought the tickets.  $30 worth.  It did not come in on August 11th when he played.

The numbers on August 12 the next day when he didn\'t play it:  1122.

The Drf story and the David Grening tweet (including a photo of the $30 worth of tickets) makes for a story that fits perfectly with everything I\'ve read and heard as well as heard from him on Steve\'s show.

RIP to the type of character we all love to meet at the racetrack!

Roman

Sorry for the loss to all the people that knew him. Was only connected or him by At the Races w/ Steve, and other stories done in the media. Sounds like we need a lot more of his kind in racing and the world.

One way you can gauge how a person lived there life is what I call the dash. You know the date the person was born and died , but the dash, example is born and died , 1930-2023. What people say about the dash is a pretty accurate description of how a person lived, and all the contributions he made and the effect he had on other peoples lives. And he has a excellent dash record. Rip Blue

Steve:
Would you be able to post a link from your archives of your favorite Blue interview.
I am a nostalgia guy.
Thanks
