He sure is good with young horses. His generally run like an adult vs children. !st round draft choices for example Sol Del Sur in the 2nd race and Dominican Pioneer in the 5th @ Kee today. Based on the latter race I put the runner-up Spangster trained by Dallas Stewart on my horses to watch list. That was a very professional effort.

With Ward, it seems we need to catch them first out. If they don\'t run off don\'t expect them to improve next out less trouble.

I\'m not one who knows the answer to that question. I was just reflecting on what I had observed. Now that you mention it of course there is probably none better than Bob Baffert at getting young horses prepared for their first race.

Regarding Ward, I was naively thinking he was better at teaching these babies how to run, how to handle the starting gate, and how to avoid distraction. Now I am more curious about such obvious disparities in performance.

Nevertheless, I\'ll be looking for some of his 2/1 first-time starters today.

A couple of strikes and a fan of the British system which keeps hair samples for three (3) years apparently

"A couple of nanograms, I don't know how it got into the horse's system. It certainly didn't make him run faster."

Sound familiar? If you don't know how drugs end up in your horse you shouldn't have a license to train. I don't care if it's aspirin, it's his responsibility and if he's not accountable he should be gone.

I love that ol\' \"just a couple of nanograms\" argument, as if that was the sum total in the entire horse, when the measurement is \"nanograms per milliliter\".
