One of my favorite days of the year is JR Steaks (formerly Spiral) day at Turfway.  Sometimes I find a nugget or 2 on the undercard, but this year my best bet is in the JR Steaks.
#8 Finnick the Fierce: Has been competitive against tons better and comes in the 2nd fastest horse in the race.  Paired his 2YO top last month in the Risen Star and I expect a big forward move, especially after a sparkling workout over the Turfway Polytrack in 46.6, 2.2 seconds faster than the next best horse that day, showing he may be a poly lover. His best race as a 2YO he ran 2nd to multiple stakes winner Silver Prospector while beating one of the Derby favorites, Tiz the Law.  Also among the horses he beat was stakes winner Enforceable (who later beat him in the LeComte).
#11 Invader: A new horse since getting on TP\'s poly has won 2 straight over the track and recorded the fastest figure of the entrants here, running 2.5 faster than my top choice in his latest.  However, that was a 7.25 point new top and he could be vulnerable to my top choice, who should run lights out on the poly.
#12 Field Pass: Irad comes in & is riding for Maker all day.  He\'s been running a little slower on turf than what it would take to contend here & got a brutal post, but the fact that Irad is on this one of the 3 Maker horses moves him up, but he\'s still much slower than my 2 top picks.

Here are some other horses to take a look at on the undercard:
1st: While #2 Artemus Citylimits will get all the first time starter money & #5 King Snakes figures to be well bet coming off 2 stakes into this maiden race, don\'t overlook #4 Lucky Asset who hails from a prolific 1st out barn but will get lost in Wardmania among the firsters.

3rd: 8/1 ML #8 Straitouttapopcorn is the fastest horse in this race, loves Turfway (2/5 with 3 2nds)and is 3/8 overall on synthetics.  Main horse to fear is Maker/Irad #5 Sister Kitten, but she has never raced on poly and has only won 1 race of her 4 career races, all on turf.

5th: 15/1 ML #5 Eagle Pass has some decent back numbers & even though he\'s 0 for 4 at TP, can jump up and surprise at a big price in here. Just a stab.

9th: #3 Nun the Less won this race last year & is one of the faster horses in this race.

I don’t know if #3 Fancy Liquor will take to the Poly but he’s my choice
Maker’s other horse #7 will be in my tri along with #8
3/7/8 ðŸ¤'🤞🤞

Thanks. I love this one day at TP.
I did very well with my picks today even though I lost my top pick with a scratch in the Steaks.  I ended up having the 3/4 DD that paid $155 for $2 and the 7-9 P3 that paid $217 for $2. I\'m alive with the 11 & 12 in the Steaks with P3 will pays of $160 & $235 for $1. I like the 6 & 8 in the finale & have them both covered in DDs (No picks since I went 4 deep in the 10th and didn\'t want to spread myself too thin)

Well Done!

I\'m gonna try to cap the day off with the firster from the rail. Trainer Drury hig % c/b spotting him.

Thanks!  This was my best TP day of all time with some great payoffs.  This is how much I love this race day.  In 2009 I was on LI a day before the Spiral.  I couldn\'t find a racing form with the Turfway PPs anywhere, including a trip to the Meadowlands where they had simulcast forms (I was on my way back to upstate NY) I bought my TGs at the Meadowlands, got home & printed the PPs after buying the TP card.  I won Spiral day that year cementing this card as a day I look forward to every year.

BTW, anyone with Thoro-Graph sheets for Turfway today should have had a big day.  The #s were great for picking winners today.
