Late Arrivals to Churchill

Maximum Security, Spinoff, and Vekoma aren’t schedule to arrive at Churchill until Tuesday April 30.

Does anyone have any data or knowledge on how horses that arrive late prior to the derby perform on Derby day?

Is 3 days rest enough time to settle in, get acclimated and become familiar with the grounds prior to the race on Saturday?

Tagg\'s way worked on May 3 at Churchill Downs. Funny Cide became the first horse to win the Kentucky Derby without a workout or a race on the track since Bold Forbes in 1976.

Funny Cide\'s last workout before the Derby was a snappy 5 furlongs in 58 2/5 seconds on April 29 at Belmont. Tagg flew the gelding from New York to Churchill Downs on April 30 and sent him out for a 1-mile jog on May 1 and a 2-mile jog on May 2. On Derby morning he had one last jog around the track.

Thanks for the info! So with very few horses succeeding in the past, my gut is telling me to toss these horses as winners, but still use them as underlays for exotics.
