I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a rider not make 124. A. Cox, not sure if kin to Brad Cox, might want to lose a pound or two. I guess trainer Wayne Rice didn’t want to reach out for a rider that could make 124, since the two are 0-27 at KEE. Son of Clyde Rice, brother of Linda and uncle of Trainer Kevin, and former rider Taylor, now married to Jose Ortiz. A useless observation, but just makes me shake my head. Okay, I didn’t know that to be the case or even know A. Cox was a woman. What I don’t get is what seems to be several trainers that just keep running and rarely win. Jaime Mejia in Fl. Maybe he owns the Thoroughbred Champions Corp. He won the Hutcheson, granted a nice race, but they run hundreds of starters meet after meet at 4-5% win rate. Wayne Rice, The Rose Family Stable. Can they break even?
