Just the best horse won. The FOY was a total first race prep. He did the same thing in his maiden voyage. This is a professional with a solid pedigree top and bottom. He is going to take sone beating come Derby Day!!

Not really sure why Flameaway was gunning for the early lead. Cost him some late energy. Certainly ran well.

Sporting Chance was gonna be 2nd. Wouldnt switch leads and with one crack of the whip is on to Pimlico...

A well paid workout designed to get him to the next one.

Visually nothing to get excited about but who cares?
Nice looking sheet headed to CD.

According to the TVG talking heads there was nothing to see here (at Kee). According to SA race caller we just witnessed a \"dizzying accent to greatness\".....sheeeesh

Time-wise, the filly race seemed the quicker of the two - she certainly came home faster.  SA race didn\'t seem anything special either. Some ground loss in the Bluegrass, but at first glance, don\'t think it\'s a big number.

Ky filly ran well. So did the Calif Filly. And hats off to Bill Spawr. With ground Magic moved forward a little. He didn\'t fly today 1:50! As Big said pattern looks good.

I will assure you despite what the TV Talking Heads say the Derby IS NOT a foregone conclusion. The competition will show up and Justify will have to prove he is head and shoulders above the competition as they say. And one of the All-Time Greats. No doubt Baffert is sky high and that says enough. But I gotta see more than an uncontested half in 48 and a final time of 1:49 before I\'m call anyone with only 3 career starts the undisputed winner of this years Derby....

Cali filly looked good to the eye, but not sure how fast it was.  Boys got the extra 1/16th in only five more seconds.  Will be interesting to see the number.

The NBC talking heads said anything but.  They all commented how deep the Derby field looks. Couple guys on TVG, namely Hoover, raved about him.

It is a competitice rsce. Not a forgone conclusion. NBC got it right. Justify only needs to make it the starting gate....really Simon Bray?

jerry

Justify is this year’s Bodimeister.

jerry

3yo’s have a way of dirtying clean sheets on the first Saturday in May.

jbrown007

Well if he is this years Bodemeister he wins the derby. Only reason Bode lost the derby is because they entered a sprinter that killed him. Since then they changed the point system to prevent that type of thing from reoccurring.

ajkreider

Perhaps, except that

a) Bode regressed significantly off of his prior number in the derby.
b) I\'ll Have Another won the race with a 1, which will probably get you in the top eight this year.
c) Bode entered with the only negative number.  Justify probably doesn\'t even enter with the top number, and there are a bunch of horses entering off of competitive figs.
