What used to be Super Saturday.......

Today used to be a special day, championships were decided or BC must uses and or tosses were discovered.

The evolution of most trainers getting in tune with numbers, spacing and performance cycles has turned a Super Day into just a nice Saturday card in NY & KY. Train up to the big dance, avoid the bounce, less equals more, a sign of the times for the weaker pharmaceutical enhanced breed of today. A breed that see\'s a very small percentage of 3 year old \"Classic\" performers still in training by Super Saturday.

I know, I know the old guys are crying about how good it used to be.

I just watched a couple replays of the 1983 Champagne & JC Gold Cup. The last year before the inaugural BC. Five 3 yr olds loaded into the JC starting gate to take on older horses getting 5lbs. An idiotic 25 year old named Frank D. made his only win bet that ever consisted of 4 zero\'s on a super 2 year old named Devils Bag who won for fun @ 2/5 and plucked the winnings down on Slew O\'Gold @ 3/1. A nice score so I thought but the truth of the matter was I was clueless and it was my last foray into wagering a delicatessen to win a pickle! I consider the Devils Bag bet the worst one I ever made in my life and in the past 25 years you can count on one hand the win bets I\'ve made under 4/1. Value being ones personal perception.

In the words of Coach Parcells \"you are what your record says you are\" we have what we have today. It\'s not a Super Saturday but a couple of pretty good race cards that I\'m going to take a little plunge into.

Is it nostalgia, boredom, missing the excitement of a big day or a distraction to keep me from personally killing Joe Giradi? Who knows I may even post a pick 4 or 5 play later! Maybe I just miss Jimbo texting me 8 times a day?

Good luck on a nice Saturday in October,

Frank D.

Welcome back Frank..

As far as the manager of the NYY is concerned, if George was alive he would have been fired before breakfast this morning.

Cordero rode the race of his life that day outgaming a really good California horse. Forget the name but if I remember correctly Eddie D was on him.

Those were the days!!!!

Good Luck,

Clueless Joe may have lost more than a game last night. How the team responds tomorrow night will tell the story.

Good Luck,
