Jerry,

Obviously with 2 hrs between dirt races and the added wind and rain before the Preakness it had to be done as a stand alone. No definitive answer on the wind to my knowledge but obviously by those who were there it was a lot more than 5-7 MPH and either behind them for the first 1/4 or swirling.

If I\'m not infringing on trade secrets? Did you have the track for the Preakness faster than the rest of the day?  Since tracks don\'t change speed across the street and their wind reading is from the airport 8 hrs before they would only call you a heretic anyway:)

Part 2:
Although you did not deem the muddy main track an X, I have it in my notes as a very bad rail races 3-11 and Voluntario is an automatic bet back for me no matter where he runs next. It\'s pretty obvious by the wide trips of the other riders as opposed to Kent D. painting the fence that the inside of the track changed with the rain, Cherry Wine closing as well.

FYI information or anyone else\'s with Gulf as the only game in town today there have been 2 stick out by the numbers turf runners from the rail both paid 9.80 :)

There were 5 dirt routes, the Preakness was in line, the only one I broke out a little was the 11th (added a little). It rained after that went from muddy to sloppy for the last two.

There is no evidence in the figures of the inside being bad in the dirt races, at least on the turns.

Understand the turns and can buy that, I know the X is only for the stretch run.
I guess my question in lieu of a bad rail designation did you seriously consider it?

If anyone saw the NBC coverage with Donna Brothers down there about an hour before the Preakness it was several inches deeper and she literally sunk stepping from the 2 and 3 path down to the rail.

The X is only for the turns, we don\'t get rails for the stretch. And I absolutely looked for it-- and did so again when I just read your post.

Noticed most avoiding inside. Charts indicate several winners were \"off the inside\" Only rail winner was Exaggerator, Cherry Wine inside too,
