The horse coming in from Tampa, #5 Imperial Hint,  intrigues the hell out of me.  15-1 ML & may be any kind. Stretches out from 7f to a mile.  Has won by 4.25 & 6.75 lengths in his only 2 starts.  His last race top is as fast or faster than every horse except\'s Baffert\'s #11 American Freedom, who will go off a lot lower than the 6/1 ML.

What\'s going to help the odds is the presence of a lot of horses who have run in the Derby preps & Baffert with the fastest horse in the field.

I don\'t know who is riding this horse, since Antonio Gallardo is named on him, but is scheduled to ride in every race except 1 at Tampa Bay Downs.  If he does come to CD instead of staying at Tampa, I\'d be even more interested in this horse.

Equibase thinks the rider will be Luis Carvajal Jr. I think this one figures to get the front and has a better chance of lasting than the 15/1 front runner in the KD. Even if the Baffert catchs him it will be a nice exacta. Trainer is solid 1st route to boot. I\'m in.

Outstanding job by the connections here striking first out at nearly 30/1. He\'s
been brilliantly fast in the morning following that first win, would like to see
what his works looked like prior to the maiden score.

Hey Richie

[Edit] (Duh you probably knew this) So I looked up the workouts on Equibase. Prior to his Feb 19 race he routinely went 4F at about :50 and then stretched out to 5F 1:03 then popped a 1:01.80.

Then I watched replays of his two races. The horse is smallish and really quick. He separates right out of the gate. His competition just couldn\'t keep pace. Then he relaxed through the turn, And just kept on going.

Larceny

Have you caught Lani fever yet?

To conceal a young horse\'s talent like that and cash a wager is a beautiful
thing
.

No, I\'m immune, but I must compliment you for your good work promoting Lani
here and elsewhere. My biggest fear about Lani is that the NBC dummies will be
airing an equine interest story on him when they should be showing a live race
on the undercard. And if they show the Japanese connections sobbing when \"My
Old Kentucky Home\" is playing, I will be forced to laugh my ass off.

Here\'s an angle not so much for Lani but for the number.  10 years ago this race was won by the number 8.  Most of us remember who that horse was.

Tavasco

Thanks Joe, and he was a 3 point jump up. Of course he started with a small #. I still like the 30/1 number and looks like despite my efforts he will not get bet down.

Need to make some Kool Aid and get a nap before the races.

Going for the bomb on Gray Sky if he goes north of 20-1. Two one turn races at CD as 2yo were good, one !. Barn fairly hot with new tops. Hill riding well. There\'s a bigger number coming somewhere.

Gallardo took off all his Tampa mounts.  Don\'t know if he just wants to ride at CD on Derby day or if he thinks he can win this.  I ended up betting Inperial Hint & Baffert equally in exotics.
