As mentioned in previous threads, Tapit, leading sire for 2014, 2015 and so far
this year, has had but four Derby starters up until this year, when one quarter
of the field might be sired by Gainesway\'s prized stallion.

Coolmore\'s website boasts that Giant\'s Causeway was overall leading U.S.
stallion for the years 2009, 2010 and 2012. GC, who is the sire of Brody\'s
Cause, also has not thus far distinguished himself as a Derby stud:

2015/Carpe Diem/10th
2012/Creative Cause/5th
2011/Santiva/4th
2009/Hold Me Back/12th
2008/Cowboy Cal/9th
2005/Noble Causeway/14th

So between them, GC and Tapit have been overall U.S. leading sire for six of
the last eight years, and it might be said that they have not produced the
goods with regard to Derby performers. For those looking for a Thorographical
explanation, Tapit\'s TG Sire Index is 10² for 3YOs and 9¹
for 4YOs; GC\'s Sire Index is 11 for 3YOs and 9 for 4YOs.
