Stronach wants to push forward with his idea for a 12 million dollar mega race in April each year where each owner puts up a cool million and share in the handle for the race as well......

Every person Ive talked to, and every comment I have read, including Stronach himself, has said how great this is because racing is declining and needs new ideas and progressive, forward thinking to save the sport blah blah.....

Dear Frank, a bunch of experimental gimmicks (see the Sunshine Millions) isn\'t the answer to helping the sport. The answers to improving the game have been right under your nose for years. Lower takeouts, tougher drug testing, harsher penalties for cheaters, pool integrity, increasing field size (contracting tracks??).....these have been the same problems plaguing the game for years. Yet no one makes any attempt to ever fix these obvious issues first.

Adding another mega race does nothing to advance or improve anything. Do you know why? Because the day after your big mega race, I am still going to have to deal with short fields, still going to have 20 cents of every dollar taken off the top, still going to have guess which mega trainer is using today, still not sure if the lone speed horse I bet at 4/1 will magically click to 2/1 at the eighth pole.....get the picture? Adding another \"big race\" as your progressive thought is a slap in my face. It\'s like the NFL trying to improve the sport by adding a second Super Bowl three weeks after the real one.
