Ask the Experts / Re: Arrogate looked like a toss

Arrogate\'s sheet on Rags: 10, 7+, 7+, 6+

On Rags he had one of the better sheets in the race, and was a definite win contender.

I monitor both figs from time to time, and this is the RARE race where I think Rags was better than TG.

Casse is 23-for-169 (14%) the last 30 days at all North American tracks, per DRF Formulator. ROI is $.85

Definitely has been in a bit of a slump, considering the stock he has and past record.

Gary Young & Bruno De Julio are my go-to guys when I want a second opinion.

DRF workout guys are not terrible.

A lot of works on youtube or TVG/HRTV nowadays. Best approach is to watch them yourself and learn.

Ask the Experts / Re: Thoro-pattern Bluegrass Stakes

Ok thanks, I read it again...

Probably already on your radar--I think u guys could improve the Thoro-Pattern figure to fit more specific circumstances, making it more applicable to more horses.

The way I read the product explanation, the Thoro-Pattern is being supplied for tons of horses on which the %s can\'t be taken at face value.

Ask the Experts / Thoro-pattern Bluegrass Stakes
April 07, 2016, 08:12:39 AM
I am surprised to see the Thoro-pattern likes big jump-up horses such as Donegal Moon and Cards of Stone. Makes them both 40% or more to run ANOTHER top!? And u can add in another 20+% chance of pairing...

Is there something wrong with the formula? What am I missing?

These don\'t seem like trustworthy development lines.

I was a fan, but Gio Ponti is a disappointment here early at stud.

Drefong was only fast 2yo on dirt (and Gio Ponti had a LOT of nice looking yearling bring top dollar).

He still has the time and #s to turn it around...

Ask the Experts / Re: Runahppy Will Stretch Out

Miff-

I can tell u that I have seen the stride data on this horse and it is very impressive.

Look at his fractions in his best races when he is not rushed up -- the King\'s Bishop, BC Sprint, Malibu. FAST half miles and then comes home in 12\'s. It is extremely impressive. To me he is a great candidate to stretch out based on those internals.

I won\'t go on any more, perhaps I am a bit biased because of my connection to the horse.

All the best.

U make a good point about the faster break possibly being a very good sign about how Runhappy is doing behind, where he pushes off from.

But I disagree about the Lecomte being proof he can\'t go two turns. He had a fractured tibia in that race, was wearing blinkers, and mentally was not at all prepared to go two turns.

I also posted this on my twitter feed...it is an NTRA report from 2004 that deals with CRW, tote security, etc...

Ask the Experts / Re: Private Zone is Not a 21 horse

Thanks guys. I loved seeing Runhappy have to pass horses to get the win.

I watched the race from the winner\'s circle around the 1/8 pole, and I could tell he was digging in and cutting into PZ at that point. It was one of those moments...

Gerard-

I work with Kerry Thomas at said service that recommended Runhappy as a yearling.

He is training extremely well, and the camp is confident.

We didn\'t recommend RH with sprints in mind, but he is ultra-talented, so here we are one win away from a championship.

I don\'t think that\'s a completely accurate characterization of Dirt racing at Meydan. It\'s not exactly European style turf. I don\'t think it\'s a valid excuse for the time -- kinda slow pace and just an ok final.

So I think there are legitimate question marks here. Mub was  a HUGE underlay in that last Derby Future Pool Wager. I have him in Vegas at a big price and based on what I saw from him Thursday morning when galloping out off a 3f blowout, I am not looking to press that play. I Will use him under maybe because I like him at 10f.

His hip doesn\'t look giant, but overall he looks very good mentally and physically to me.

Have not seen anyone else other than you reference the fact Race Day carried 116 while Pharoah had 122. Significant, and obviously will be reflected in the TG fig. Looking forward to this Derby.
