If considering Latham Marriot Courtyard at end of Wolf Road is new and very nice.  Only 100 yards from the Northway and less than 2 miles from Airport. Reasonably priced.

There was a clarification put out today by NYRA. Chairs and coolers allowed.  There are some restrictions on numbers of coolers per table but I don\'t know if they will be enforcing that rule

I\'m not sure if this was the same night but I also met Hornung at Siro\'s one night .  My friend and I wanted a picture with him so we asked him if we could buy him a drink in return for a picture.  He told us he would take a picture without the drink but he wasn\'t going to turn down a drink if we were intent on buying.  He couldn\'t have been nicer.  Threw his arms around both our shoulders and talked to us for a bit.  The picture hung on my refrigerator in my first house until we moved.  Picture did not survive the move and I still suspect my wife was sick of staring at a picture of three pretty drunk guys in her kitchen and \"misplaced it.\"

In my opinion the last few years on Travers weekends they have tried to speed up the track. The last two days you better have the lead before 1/2 mile or you aren’t winning. Look how Smith just rode the Personal Ensign. Two straight days horses are getting headed and then winning by open lengths. First race today a 2 year old maiden ran 44.8 and won off by 6 at 12-1. I get that a few horses have sucked up for some placings but the rail and the lead seem unbeatable.

Good to see NYRA wrecked the track again for Travers weekend. Impossible to go by the speed no matter how fast they run.

Does anyone have a take on Not That Brady in this race. Sire is Big Brown. Bought for 125k. Works seem ok but lt looks like they were pointing him to the grass. Now he is in for a tag first out where he with almost definitely be claimed. Anybody know anything about owners and why they run for tag here?

Ask the Experts / Re: Forego and handicap races

I was 10 years old in 1977 and I begged my father to take me to Saratoga and watch Forego run.  That morning it was pouring but my father relented and took me anyway.  Anyone who was there will remember how bad it was and how bad Forego ran that day.  It didn\'t matter to me.  I remember it being so dark at post time that they turned on the Grandstand lights. I just took my ten year old son to the Saratoga the other day.  He didn\'t care  about takeout percentages or \"magician\" trainers and for that particular day either did I.  I just hope the sport is around for him to enjoy in 40 years.

Stay safe! Before your power goes out you may want to check and see if all of your personal information was hacked from Equifax.  That might take your mind off Irma.Talk about stress.

Ask the Experts / Saratoga track surface

When driving by the track a few times in the spring it appeared that both the main turf course and the main track were undergoing major resurfacing.  It appeared the turf course was completely removed.  Does anyone have information on what was done to the track in the off season?

Have been going to the Spa for at least 40 years and have seen the backyard area change considerably in that time.  From the days of walking the horses around the numbered trees most of the changes I have seen have not adversely affected the \"experience\".  I even like the New food and bar area at the wright street entrance.  I have looked at the artist proofs for the new plans and it looks like they plan on a modern day strip mall on Wright street.  I also don\'t mind selling a portion of the picnic tables so people who can\'t get up at 5 and sit at the gate can get a table.  Change is inevitable.  After all there was a time when you could just walk in and slide your newspaper through your grandstand seat.

Rich,
Aren\'t there some kids around to tell there is no Santa Claus?  Let us enjoy a positive racing day.

Agree with the pace scenario.  Looks like Money in Motion will get a great stalking trip with Velasquez at 12-1.  Never taken a backward step since getting on the turf. Have to toss in Kingoftheblugrass at that morning line number. Won\'t win but can easily hit the board.

Just wanted to jump on the Vito bandwagon.  Didn\'t feel the bounce would come here but I guess it\'s back to the drawing board.

I\'m willing to accept the part about you having two 30k hits but I\'m calling B.S. on the friends part of that story.

Take a look at the races. I certainly feel that he has responded to Lasix and I think his trainer and owner have both said as much.  That aside, I feel Orb has been allowed to grow into himself and has not had the screws put to him like some other trainers would have done.  Orb and Violence are the perfect counterpoints. You may not agree but in my opinion the manner in which the trainers get these horses to run their numbers plays a huge part in whether they can sustain them or bounce or worse as in the case of Violence.
