I got in the car to head for the track, luggage in tow prepared to head directly from the track to the Albany airport for my 7:20 flight to LV. I got to the beverage center and turned around and went back home. It\'s just too damn hot. I know I\'d be miserable up at the track today, and unable to think straight. So next Thursday will be my first taste of the year from the big red spring.

I can\'t answer your question, however this race is as tough a race to handicapp as you can get. You can make a case for practically every runner. So far I\'ve only eliminated Newfound Zapper, the AE\'s and the MTO\'s. Past that I can\'t seperate the rest of the field. Any thoughts on this race will be well received by me.

Ask the Experts / Sar Race 7
July 19, 2013, 05:38:20 AM
Interested to hear folks thoughts about race 7 today at Sar. The Jacobson fav seems beatable and is not fastest, even when factoring in the weight advantage. The second choice on the ML is also vulnerable with that big six point new top in last. The trainer has been on fire the last 90 days, but this is not churchill.
At 12-1 Dawley is looking mighty good. Consistently runs that 2 3/4, which is fast enough to win this. Seems to be a 7F specialist. I\'ve observed more than a number of times horses running the same number over several months all of a sudden break through and run a new top. The most memorable for me being Pleasant Home in the BC Distaff back in 05 for Shug. Was running a 1 all year and then jumps up and beats Ashado and Society Selection. Add in Dawley\'s stalking running style from an outside post, along with the hoping for double digit odds and I\'ll take a horse like Dawley eery time.
Googleado, although I don\'t like the inside post, may set the pace according to the race shape, is also intriguing. Very lightly raced with only a 3 point new top in last, with plenty of time to recover since the top. Who\'s to say this one does not have another forward move or a pair-up in him? Like Dawley I\'m hoping the ML is accurate. Depending on what I see in the paddock I\'ll play Dawley to win with a saver place wager, and an exacta box with Googleado. And maybe the latter to win also if the price is anything over the ML.
Best of luck to all today and this weekend.

Ask the Experts / Re: Seminars/TG Open
July 18, 2013, 02:35:03 PM
Rick, it\'s a deal. I\'ll post my openng day picks in the AM before I head up to the track. I won\'t be there this weekend as I have to fly to LV for work. I will be at the seminar for weekend #2 so you can pay my admission to the CH then.
The irony is, for the last three years I\'ve gotten season passes to the clubhouse, yet spent most days by the paddock or in the grandstand. So this year I get a season pass for the grandstand only...Had I only known. Even a seminar lead by Julian or Bill Spillane would be worth the price of admission.

The description on the buy TG data page for the online seminar says it includes the race shapes but the PDF of the seminar does not include the race shapes. Am I missing something?

Ask the Experts / Time for Travers Day Seminar
August 21, 2012, 05:03:38 AM
With 1st post of 11:30 what time will the seminar begin on Saturday?
I donated $100.00 for one of the 100 reserved picnic tables for the 2nd time since the \'tradition\' started three years ago.  Hoping it dosen\'t rain. With seating for six I may have room for a couple of TG folks at the table since my in-laws decided to schedule a family reunion on Saturday. Let me know at the seminar if anyone needs a place to hang for the day. No charge, except for maybe a beer or a Carolina BBQ meal.

Almont half way thru the meet and there\'s still no audible sound available in many locations of the plant including the clubhouse apron. The one exception is right behind Carolina BBQ just when you don\'t want sound, when the seminars take place.

I\'ll keep it simple and consider using the two fastest horses on TG figs, Caixa and Flat Out. Both are getting a couple of pounds from Hymn Book and Ron the Greek. It could be argued Caixa is better this year than last with three neg. 2 1/2\'s with that last paired top coming over 3 months ago. Nice inside post with good stalking speed should result in saving ground. As I write this I wonder if Flat Out has some issues that may be catching up to him. Done after three races as an early 3 year old, dosen\'t get back to the races until December as a 4yo then disappears again until late May. Why the time off from mid February until July? Many folks are going to excuse the last effort which may hurt the price-I may not. I\'ll want at least 5-1 to be interested.

Brooker D ran last Thursday the 21st and won. The sheet has no fig. for the race. The horse is running back tomorrow. Can you post the last race figure?

Thanks in advance Jerry and I\'ll see you this weekend at the seminar.
