Ask the Experts / Re: Derby Post Position

I don\'t know if it\'s kharma or whatever you want to call it,but the over confidence of Frankel,Baffert etc. often leads to poor rides by top jockeys when the chips are down.
I noticed that Frankel has basically benched Kent Desormeaux for getting into trouble trying to save ground. These trainers seem to think that their horses can repeatedly survive 4 and 5 wide trips and beat the best competition out there. This may work if you space your races and are much the best in a race. However ,in a one shot free for all like the Derby , I would personally prefer the style of a rider like Desormeaux or say a Martin Pedroza.It\'s tough for me as a fan to watch  Pat Day and Jerry Bailey churn out lackluster \"safe \" ground wasting trips in the Kentucky Derby.I see where Jay Privman called Bailey\'s ride in th Belmont \" tactically brilliant\".I personally fail to see the \"brilliance\" there. It looked to me like the Rally Monkey could have booted that one home.I can only conclude, that it is better for a jockey to be politically correct and well mannered ,than actually a dominant rider.I think that these trainers need to shut their pie holes and let the jocks ride their race.

I see that Stockton is about to open.I wonder if any any TG users out there ,have any comments as far as success they\'ve had playing the California Fair circuit.I normally don\'t play those tracks but I notice that Hollywood Park has had some pretty week Wed. and Thurs. cards.

I\'m with you all the way Chuckles! For some reason it disturbs me that Frankel has been insisting that this horse\'s best race would be the Belmont ,even before the Derby. The more he says it ,the more I think he\'s trying to convince himself. If he hits the board,I lose.Half brother to Honest Lady Eh?

Empire Maker earlier had defeated Funny Cide, a Distorted Humor gelding, by a half-length in the Wood Memorial Stakes (G1)—a margin Frankel and Bailey still maintain could have been much larger if Empire Maker had been pushed for more run.

\"I think my horse is the best horse,\" Bailey said. \"He won the Wood with five or six lengths to spare.\"

Yeah, well maybe you shoulda, that may have discouraged Funny Cide\'s connections from going to the Derby and and kicking the crap out of you!Anybody else gettig tired of Bailey\'s rhetoric. As I recall, Bailey was ready to jump ship to Vindication but lucked out when that one was injured.

How many of these horses with ultra fast Thorograph figs as 2yo\'s will go down before non-sheet believers start seeing the light.
Any thoughts out there on a 3yo named Outta
Here.Kind of like the development of Atlantic Ocean the million dollar filly.
