Typo on the years for the Cotillion (should be 2013 - Close Hatches, 2014 - Untapable) but you get the idea.

Ask the Experts / Penn Derby - Cotillion as prep for BC
October 28, 2015, 11:37:44 AM
The last two years the winners of the Penn Derby and Cotillion have run very well in the Classic and Distaff.
Penn Derby Winners:
2013 - Will Take Charge - 2nd by a dirty nose in the Classic
2014 - Bayern - Winner of the Classic
Cotillion winners:
2012 - Close Hatches - game 2nd to Beholder in the Distaff
2013 - Untapable - Winner of the Distaff
The spacing is ideal and these races seem to be a good prep for the BC. I haven\'t seen the numbers yet but does anyone think that Frosted or I\'m A Chatterbox will have a chance to three-peat the Parx to BC success?

Not a big surprise to see a TAP struggle to get back to form after the KY Derby Preps and 2 TC races.

When you say the filly is faster do these numbers take into account that CC has been geared down in every race this season. He has never been asked for a full run in the stretch.
Im new to this.. just asking questions.

Smarty, Oxbow, I\'ll Have Another, Bodie, Orb, Super Saver, and Big Brown have something in common. They won the Derby (with the exception of Oxbow who won Preakness and Bodie who ran huge in both races) and they were all retired quickly because every loss after the derby decreased their value as a stallion dramatically.
