Ask the Experts / Re: D.Wayne Lukas

Surprising turn of events. He sure seemed fit the 1st Saturday in May, albeit 89 years old.
Doesn\'t sound like they expect him to overcome whatever is ailing him. Very disappointed to hear that.

Very much so.
The Belmont has to make one realize Sovereignty has a great late turn of foot, but sure wish the one two Winn finishers took to the track on Derby Day. It was a nightmare.

No bet
Theres just not enough for motivation.
Yeah, looks like a made up word.
How disappointing. Everything is 2-1.
How chicken shit for the Silver Vet to dodge this one. Pure bawk, bawk, bawk.
Its a fast track.

Ask the Experts / Saturday Post Race TFigs Review
June 08, 2025, 10:36:08 AM
Woody Stephens:
Mucho Music broke a half step slow and had to be seriously hustled to get to the lead. (Music would have gotten it easily without that.) In the lane he failed to change leads. A good break and maybe, but in review TGraph had him coming off a 3 point top and that could be reason for a slow start and failure to change leads. Was also playing improvement for Neoequos cutting back to 7, but he looked like a horse needing second circuit placement.
Hey...I got good odds!!!!
Patch Adams looked a very strong horse on TFigs just matching a 2YO top what was a winning figure, so congrats again Romans.
Was correct about one thing... discounting McPatrick. TFigs confirmed a failure to improve of his 2YO form. Dicey favorite at 7-2
Metropolitan:
Fierceness was coming off a neg 3 for the third time. He didn\'t collapse but he didn\'t win either. Good Horse
Raging Torrent making very nice steady progression and looks to be a very good 4YO.
Saratoga Stakes Grade I 3YO:
It was a two horse race. Congrats to Journalism for dancing every dance and being there. Congrats to Sovereignty as well. Lets hope they meet again.
Not a good Triple Crown year but it didn\'t look like Tgraph race selector had his best day either, granting coming off the Turf changed everything.

Gonna look hard at this race in a bit. Need a saver. Finished 6th, 1st and 2nd in the Triple crown with no cashes at all. Skunkville. Gonna study this track like a ground squirrel before laying my peanuts down.

Can\'t get into anything until this one now.
Then you have the Cox and Brown phenomena. Folks gravitating towards their recent success. Could look a novice, but what is it about McPatrick that folks see a horse that should be favored? Favored? Seriously? Prat stuck with him giving up Gunmetal. He\'s gonna have to improve. What if he can\'t go forward off this 2YO form? Looks like you\'d have to be betting a Jump Up here. We\'ll see tomorrow on TFigs redboard. Gunmetal looks to me a better play then McPatrick, coming out of that swale but what is a Gun Runner doing sprinting at this juncture? Gate to Wire looks a better play also.
Dayum that Swale Stakes was a wing dinger. They went 21.4 and 43.4 Grayscale battling for the lead. You gotta go by the horses but that Swale stands out like a black thumb.
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the VET, blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted
Painted black, yeah
Quite a race.
Citizen Bull, CB, back for redemption and with his Silver Vet stablemate Madaket Road. I believe Gaming was there on Derby Day and he\'s been swapped out for CB. They have to face the Music again. (Aren\'t you just absolutely hopeful the Silver Vet has to face the correcting Music one day? Let it be so.) Which begs the question, can the vet pull the shenanigans out easier in New York and will he have the courage to try?
When Madaket Road has run uncoupled with Citizen Bull, the barn politics have directed Madaket\'s jockey to \"hold\" and attempt to take the race later. CB has been a great beneficiary of politics. So great he really should wear an orange saddlecloth.
Today they have to face an improving Mucho Macho Music Man again. I think he\'s a quicker stepper than the Silver Vet treated horses so one of them will have to push hard. What do you think? Which Treated Horse gets the go go go assignment? Key determination in regard to pace analysis, which can be challenging.

Ask the Experts / Looks like a form of rematch
June 02, 2025, 02:33:00 PM
So the Matt Winn Sunday is my favorite race of the week. Not the Belmont, but have amends to make and will tackle it too.
Matt Winn
Gaming - Got outfooted by my Macho Music. His pace was not pace enough. But he drew the rail, has some pace and its only 8.5 marks. Concerning, but I have my faith in the Kentucky Blood Bank Lab. I think they are watching Captain Silver Vet like a hawk watches a field mouse nibbling a wheat ear. They are ready to POUNCE and when they get him next time, It\'s Dutrow time. So I think he\'s likely playing fair. Do you think the Silver Vet can really play fair in Kentucky and excel? I don\'t.
Final Gambit - This horse is gonna take a TON of money off that fantastic Derby run. Finished best of all these. BET WITH BOTH HANDS.....bet early...bet often...bet late...bet like the mortgage depends upon it. You can\'t miss a once in a lifetime chance like this. Its now or never. Opportunity only knocks once and whats that?... What is that noise?
Chunk a Bullets - Working Bullets at Turfway......BULLETS. Fast bullets...AR-15 bullets. Ok, that\'s a little tongue in cheek, but he has not been all that bad.
Just a Fair Shake - Bet this horse on Preakness Day. Not here though. Nay Nay.
The Whitham Horse - I been waiting for this day. These are the days we\'ve been waiting for. I wanted more marks. I wanted more Black Type. I wanted a bigger field and all the Triple Crown hype. I got some of what I wanted here, but not all of it. (Even forgot the Belmont was at the Spa this year.) But in some ways, this is the candy that everybody wants. Wanted a rematch and here it is, granting more second flight than triple crown.
Coal Battle - He\'s going to appreciate the slight cutback here. Feel this is his best distance. The best human-interest story this year. That trainer is pure poetry. As a realist, don\'t believe he moved too early in the Arkansas Derby. Began his move about the same time Sandman did. He wasn\'t gonna do much with Sandman by waiting.
East Avenue - Oh lord, hear my prayer. Lay not a peeble before this horse\'s path. Let the track be firm like your word. Let the stewards and the chemists keep a vigilant eye upon the scoundrel that is unkind to your beasts. Let the race be fair and fast, if it is your will. Amen.

Clean trip at the Spa at 10 furlongs, tending to disagree. Gonna wait for the racing paper. A day or two yet.

Keyed him but not with Gosger.
That was the most unbelievable recovery I\'ve ever seen even if they disqualify him.

Ask the Experts / Privman, Varney, Bobby the Needle and Lasix Conditions.
May 16, 2025, 10:39:42 PM
I hope you had it Roman.
I was dabbling. I needed the DQ\'d horse to hold onto second or Gung Ho to respond. He didn\'t.
Spent a misguided youth at the Florida OBS sales. Caught a few winners that mattered, but TFigs are a better tool. Which brings me to Preakness Day 3rd Race MSW 8.5 furlongs:
The Silver Vet has a 775K yearling purchase named Varney in this race. (Yesterday it was \"Privman\".) FFS... how is it that the owners, in this case \"Talia Racing\" and \"Spendthrift Farm\" engage with Bobby the Needle at this juncture? How??? Now, it\'s clear folks bet Mr. 30 percent plus winner on stats. We know that, but Tony plays it differently. He hates Bobby the Needle. It\'s visceral... Medina Spirit anyone? Tony will even take it on the chin multiple times to land one good shot on Bobby the Needle. (If I ever see him in the paddock again, security will escort me out for calling the truth upon him to his face.)... and I swear I will.
Now theres not a lot in this race. But if Bobby the Needle hasn\'t broken through with all the witchcraft...All the Handy Works (All of them)...All the treatment in three starts to break maiden, then Bobby has been wasting his suckers 3/4 million again and again and again and again. Like Privman running with his head to the right. (Nice selection Needle)
So... Theres not a lot in this race and the Needle is really scraping bottom here. And... Pletcher\'s horse is trying to board the same lifeboat.
So I\'m gonna take a little flyer against again on what I know from a wasted youth.
8th Race - I\'m rusty reading conditions when Lasix is part of the entry condition.
