That was my plan going in. I figured I\'d work TG\'s for Kee and Aqu, I can\'t paly California, never get a handle on it. I\'ll try to come up with 10 plays between the 2 cards and go from there. Hoping to be able to beat some of this heavy chalk in NY.

Ask the Experts / First Handicapping Contest
April 04, 2013, 10:00:42 AM
Good Afternoon,
I am entering my first Handicapping Contest this coming Saturday at the Meadowlands. It is something I\'ve always wanted to do and finally am doing it. The tracks are Keeneland, Aqua and SA. I was just wondering if any of you guys who have played in these before have some advice for me. Anything would help, especially some insight as to how you prepare? Do any of you set limits to not play horses below a certain price?? Is it bet to focus on 2 of 3 tracks or handicap them all???
Thanks
Rob

Ask the Experts / TVG/4NJBETS
February 28, 2013, 04:22:22 AM
A friend of mine just stated he got an email that effective tomorrow, TVG is taking over NJBETS. I mostly bet thru my 4NJBETS account, both from home and at the track. I did not get this email. Can anyone confirm this and advise me of any changes I need to make before this weekend.
Thanks
Rob

Ask the Experts / A couple more questions
January 28, 2013, 05:42:06 AM
Guys,
First of all I\'d like to thank everyone for responding to my questions, you\'ve given me some great advice and I do appreciate it. I have a couple questions that I\'d really appreciate some feedback on. First of all, when looking at the TG sheets, to the right of the Thoro-Pattern is a set of figures: Sts Top% Pr% etc., what are these figures?
Are they figures based on the pattern for all horses or do they refer to the trainer when a horse runs this pattern??? Please explain, thanks.
My 2nd question has to do with class. When using the form, I paid a lot of attention to a horse moving up and down in class. Is this important with the TG #. I\'m assuming a 10 in a maiden claimer is the same as a 10 in maiden special. Once again, thanks for any input.

Ask the Experts / Re: 2nd time using TG's

I said the exact same thing to the guys sitting near me. When they heard its $25 for sheets they told me I was nuts to pay that. This was coming from a guy handicapping from the NY Post.

Ask the Experts / Re: Kentucky Derby: afraid to ask

I went twice, Funny Cide and Smarty Jones. This was before it got truly expensive. Flew into Cincy then drove to KY, saved a few bucks this way. Best bet for tickets is to buy on Oaks and Derby morning, people were selling right in our hotel lobby. It\'s something every true horse racing lover needs to do at least once.

Ask the Experts / 2nd time using TG's
January 27, 2013, 06:21:37 AM
Hello, I used TG\'s yesterday for my 2nd time at Gulf. Ended up a winning day.
I had 4/5 in pick 5, catching the $16 horse in first leg, singling katie, then going four deep and nailing the $59 horse. I singled Bobby, I think I got sucked in. I ended up with the winner in the 11th as well, $9. I cashed 3 nice win bets on the card and showed a profit. These were horses i\'d never have if I only used the DRF. I completely tossed the winner of the Holy Bull as I thought he would bounce and that Bobby was a standout coming back fresh. Could someone explain to me what I missed and how you guys played this race.
thanks for any input

Lost Cause,
I have a question about looking for the \"fastest\" horse in the race. When you are looking at the TG, are you looking at a horses current form or are you going back throughout his racing career. Lets say a horse ran a 5 as a 3 year old and now at age 5 has been running in the 10-12 range. If the 5 as a 3 year old is faster than any other horse in the race would you go back to that or are you basically looking at current form cycles??
Thanks!

Thanks for the responses guys. If anyone plays in the Teletheater at the Meadowlands, let me know, I\'d love to see visually some of the things you guys look for.

Thanks, I have been printing sheets from prior days and handicapping the races then checking my results. I go to Saratoga every summer for a few days, I\'d love to go to a seminar. Where can I get the information regarding one???
Thanks for your time.

Hello,
I am brand new to using the thorograph sheets. I used them Saturday at Gulfstream and had minimal success. I\'ve used the form for over 20 years and realize its going to take time to become familiar with the sheets. I was hoping some of you more experienced guys could give me some advice, anything would be appreciated. I was also wondering if you guys only use the tg sheets or do you use them along with the DRF. I will be trying again this upcoming Saturday at Gulf.
Thanks!
