I must have read/heard at least 10 times that Union Rags is going to love Belmont because he is huge.Don\'t know for certain if he is the biggest but I kept hearing this since before the derby.He did run well when he raced at Belmont and its kind of either put up or shut up for him this race.He can either live up to the hype or prove all the doubters right.

Castellano didn\'t choose Gemologist over Union Rags.He chose Algorythms over Union Rags and when that horse went off the trail Leparoux already replaced him on Union Rags.

First I would say that the lowest # isn\'t even close to the favorite 100% of the time but you\'re right , if you just bet the lowest last number you\'re bound to lose.A couple ways I go about handicapping a race is to use the ML favorites as par and try to find a horse that can beat them.Either by cycling back to a previous number that can beat it or by a progressive pattern that points to an improvement beyond par.Also the trainer and sire stats can find you a price too by seeing what angles they excel at.Often a horse that looks slow will jump up if that is a move the trainer uses with success.The sire stats come in handy with maidens making their first start or switching surfaces or distances .

Whether she didn\'t handle the track or not it was to her advantage being how fast they went up front.She walked out of the gate just about every other race also so I don\'t see why it was such a big deal.This is what frustrates people about Zenyatta fans.They try to embellish everything to make her look herculean .

Yeah great job!!!Don\'t know what to make of the Derby now after those fractions and the speed still held

I second this.Go look through the charts.You can pick just about any day and you will see a lot of winners with VERY WIDE in their comment line.The jocks that regularly ride at Parx take their mounts immediately off the rail if they can.On those same charts you will also see a ton of INSIDE,TIRED comments.
  I saw Ruler On Ice as the main foe to Rattlesnake Bridge and with him going to have to find a way off the rail without having much early speed in him is going to be tough.THAS\'s problem to me is that he doesn\'t rate well and Dutrow has stated Rush Now is gunning from the start.Everything about this race points to RB to me but I think he will be bet also so don\'t know how much interest I have in betting.

After looking at the sheets this race looks a lot more tricky than I thought it would be.Shackleford still looks like the horse to beat to me but the other horses to use are a surprise.
 I have to start somewhere so I\'m going to start off by leaving out the horses coming into this off new tops(Coil,Stay Thirsty,Moonshine Mullin,Malibu Glow) and Bowman\'s Causeway is too slow.Rattlesnake Bridge comes in off a top but it was a smaller forward move than the others and he has been rested longer.
 Of the remaining horses(Shackleford,Ruler On Ice,Rattlesnake Bridge,Raison D\'Etat,and JW Blue) I have to say JW Blue looks like the outsider even though A Dutrow has been on fire and after the way his no shot filly ran last week in the Alabama nothing would surprise me.That leaves me with Shackleford and Ruler on Ice as the main contenders with Rattlesnake Bridge and Raison D\'Etat the sneaky live horses.
 When it comes time to bet I\'m going to have to decide whether to key off Shack or ROI and then think about turning it around trying for a homerun and key off RB or RD.

Sheets aren\'t up yet but thinking I really like Shackleford here.Coil had everything his way at Monmouth while Shack went against the grain .Will have to see how the sheets look but for longshots I want to see how Moonshine Mullin and Raison De\'tat stack up.Don\'t see Mott putting that horse in here if he didn\'t expect a big move forward.

While that might have been the case in years past, it was hardly 2nd and 3rd stringers this year.

Treasure Beach is a top notch 3 year old over there.Beyond Frankel he is among the horses next in line.He has a Group 3 win ,a Group 1 win ,and missed by a head to Pour Moi or he would have won 2 Group 1 derbies.

  Stacelita has won quite a few Group 1\'s while being competitive against the best like Dar Re Mi,Snow Fairy and Midday.

  Cape Blanco has a Group 3 win,two Group 2 wins ,and two Group 1 wins and fell 1 length short of winning the Dubai World Cup.

They don\'t have the sheets up yet but I\'m interested in Zack Hall the most and maybe I can get Tajaaweed underneath somewhere

They are the two that we will probably be trying to beat so hopefully that remains true but both have developed a lot since their last turf race.I was just saying as a whole , this 3 yr old turf is stacked .
