I am curious as to why you are not making the Alabama the ROTW. Competitive race. Small field. Should be good odds. A possible over-bet favorite.

Special Action started off 5 lengths behind the field and finished with a rush of course to end up fourth 7 lengths off. Tearing up tickets now.

I think that spa is saying that Tony Dutrow has so much black type that he and horse look like a standout..especially that 27% win percentage coming back in two weeks with the same horse.

Another thing to look at are Breeze Figs at DRF. They indicate stride length in addition to times and compares first time starters with purchase and quality sales auctions.

Ask the Experts / Nice work on analysis of Hollywood Park yesterday
July 15, 2011, 12:12:09 PM
TG did a very good job on the analysis of Hollywood Park yesterday almost hitting the P6 (getting a conso 5/6 for $600+) all with horses on top of selection choice. By the way the last pick for $15K P6 finished second.

Ask the Experts / Re: How do you make money?

It is too bad John Veitch is getting all the heat for the Life at Ten mess caused by Pletcher and Velasquez who should have taken the horse out of the race for just cause. Veitch was a great trainer of Davona Dale, Proud Truth, Alydar, and Our Mims winning multiple Grade 1\'s. He has also been a good steward in his second life and it is too bad this could put a black mark on his Hall of Fame career.

Ask the Experts / How I started to love the Races
June 28, 2011, 02:29:49 PM
Since it is a slow horse and work day, I thought I would bring up what could be an interesting topic to kick around. How did we get into betting the horses. I was introduced to racing in the early 1970\'s by a friend in high school and went to college in Long Island close to Belmont Park. I used to be a terrible handicapper, just guessing on favorites, or listening to punters, and finally read the Form. Took me a while to figure out the numbers, but when Beyer and the speed figures came out with some success, I was hooked. Won a 500 dollar exacta with the back figures. It also didn\'t hurt that the 70\"s may have been the best time for racing in the last fifty years with three triple crown winners and Forego as a handicap horse. I also used a device which is no longer around called the Kelco Class Calculator which was a small computer which helped you to determine class vs purse. I had some good luck with it in combination with figures. Did some nice class analysis and came up with longshots also. It took a long time to use for a nine race card though. Below is the link to some of the early devices used for handicapping.
