Did you see Frankel\'s quote on it?

From the drf.com article:

\"Unless he\'s a super, super horse, he\'s [expletive],\" Frankel said.

bloodhorse.com, Tagg\'s reference to HA Jerkens\' take:

\"It\'s like Allen Jerkens said, \'More horses win after a fast work than after a slow work.\'\"

I\'m leaning towards the Jerkens on this one.

Speaking of workouts during the TC series, anyone check FC\'s blistering work this am?
That beats his own 5f work just before the Derby for the most impressive of the many TC works, don\'t you think?
I hope he saved something for Saturday...

I find workout information to be interesting, but I haven\'t seen any on your sheets.  What\'s the argument against considering workout info in your handicapping?

So what\'s your read on Best Minister?

Sarava lite?

I guess his connections are bullish on him if they\'re willing to drop $100,000 just to get him in the gate.  Hey, it worked for them last year.  What do you think his chances of improving off that pair up are?

Without your sheets I never, ever would\'ve seen Midway Road, but you showed him as having the second best career figure and at 20-1 I felt I had to make him my key.

My Preakness betting was as follows:  $5 win, then underneath 4 $2 exactas (including the winning one) and keyed in the 3 slot with 4 horses in $1 tris (just missed, not having the entry).

My friends made fun of me for putting out the $25 for your Saturday book, as I\'m generally a $2 bettor, but after that $120 exacta and a couple of other minor scores earlier, I was the one laughing at the end of the day.  Thanks!

p.s. Pimlico was doing this head-to-head wagering I\'ve never seen before-and it was a great deal with only had an 11% take-out.  Have any of you seen this on-track before-i\'ve only seen it at off-shore internet casinos?  It was fun to do, and I\'m hoping nyra (my home circuit) picks up on it.  The Pimlico tote board is so lousy it was nearly impossible to follow the probable payoffs, but it looks like it has great arbitrage potential against the win odds.

I\'m somewhat new to TG, but I can\'t decide whose line looks more bizarre to me, Empire Maker or Atswhat.  Both of them tripled up (or quadrupled up) lifetime tops.  Am I wrong, or is this unusual?  And if you thought both would regress at least a little on Derby Day, what do you expect to see at Pimlico?

Yes I was.  Got it. Thanks.

Also-interesting comparisons you made bet. TG & Rags.  I appreciate your openness in discussing the science behind the speed numbers.  Not everyone is so open about it.

Sorry but I\'m a newbie: what are you doing  when you bet a \"spread against the favorite?\"  Are you betting other horses to win at somewhat longer odds, or is it when you only play the favorite underneath in the exotics, or both?

Ask the Experts / Re: rebreak...please explain
April 29, 2003, 07:24:10 PM
The way I understand it, a rebreak is when a horse makes a second move during one race.

Like he makes a move on the far turn and takes the lead-only to give it up, but then \'breaks\' again mid-stretch, challenging for the lead anew..only to run out of real estate and pick up a minor prize.

From an AP wire on the bruise:

\"The trainer said the injury occurred following an earlier bruise to the same foot in the Wood at Aqueduct on April 12, a race run on a track drying out after a day of rain.\"

Observation:
Isn\'t Churchill on Derby Day going to be \"a track drying out after a day of rain?\"

Ask the Experts / what's the knock on buddy gil?
April 27, 2003, 06:34:47 AM
I don\'t get why everyone\'s dismissing this guy.  His best numbers are competitive,  (I think) he\'s won more graded stakes than anyone else in here, and-if works are any indication-he\'s in prime form and loves that Churchill dirt.

His last race, while a lifetime best, was only a 2 pt. move and, with as much or more rest than anyone else is getting and 2 strong works that suggest the SA Derby didn\'t knock him out, I gotta think he\'s either going to pair or improve.

I admit I\'m somewhat new to TG sheets, and that\'s the reason why I\'m appealing to all of you to tell me what I\'m missing.  Talk to me, people!

Actually, I believe JD Bailey has a positive ROI at the Spa this meet.  In other words, don\'t just assume every Bailey nag is an underlay.
