I landed in Paris today to attend this historic race amongst other agenda items. Anyone up to speed on the European turf races?  Looking forward to a wonderful day Sunday but am clueless this side of the pond.   Any insight would be appreciated.

Wrong week for this off topic, but has anyone attended the Arc race @ Longchamp the first Sunday in October?   Looking for guidance/suggestions, as I might end up in Paris that weekend.  Or is this a chaotic Pass?

Remember when they used to Turn OFF all pay phones @ the racetrack once the card started.  Yes, young racing fans, prior to cell phones & a think called the internet.

I have noticed that typically the ARC runners or ARC winners don\'t fare well in the Breeders\' Cup Turf.  ODD, but happens all the time.

I was there live for that, but like all Breeders Cups Events, long betting lines, long beer lines, long food lines.  I took a calculated decision to get a hot dog that race, missed it & my friend says when I get back to our seats \"Wow, what an incredible race!\"

Missed it live & was on site.  DAMN.

I saw \"Charlie Hustle\" selling MLB picks on an interview about two months ago.  He is basically stating, Hell, No way are they going to vote me in, so time to cash out.

Unbridled Honor jumped over 11 points from his 2 year old top to his last race.  That is why the difference between the two.  Jerry covers that in the Derby seminars yearly, that is too much.

YEP,  Governor Edgar was an great supporter, Quinn not so much. Gov. Edgar would attend & hand out the Arlington Million trophy.

But Dick Duchossois certainly knew what they were doing selling out to Churchill, was a business decision, IMO.

Sad, but not surprising here. Currently zoned Agricultural, like most tracks. Its like holding valuable land for a drive-in movie theater, you all saw how those disappeared.  

What will yield more in re-zoning to Mixed use or residential.  Interesting article about maybe The Bears move from Soldier Field, but think that is a Long Shot, not pun intended.

Never been to Balmoral harness racing.  closed, but was converted to a horse show-jumping venue, is on the market with an asking price of $4 million.

As of now, there are three horse racetracks in Illinois: Arlington Park, Hawthorne Race Course and Fairmount Park.
