First post in quite awhile.......

Shanny and Bob, I’ll be at the track on the 5th and 9th. I hope to see Youse Guys!
I spoke with Trackjohn today he will be there August 7,8,9. Uncle Bill, Sean and Rocky for sure on Whitney Day. I spoke with Richiebee yesterday he will be up at some point, probably the last week. Any others please reach out and I hope to see Fairmount if he makes it here?

Two years is a very long time and ain’t none of us getting younger..... Uncle Bill, TGJB and I were there 1/2 of opening day. I’ve not been back since. I’ll make an appearance this Saturday and Sunday as Jimbo is up with a buddy.

While the Spa has gone flat out crazy with pricing and people it seems the TG guys have mellowed? I’m seldom there ALL DAY any longer and am passing on Whitney and Travers Days. Sean and Rocky made a Saturday appearance with UB. If anyone is coming up Please notify me through email. It is nice to catch up with everyone.
The last 3 weeks should pick up quite a bit as TGJB will be there from Alabama Day to the end..... I hope Sperry’s has enough vodka?

Good luck and in his immortal words “May the horse be with you”

Ask the Experts / Re: Arlington Park For Sale
February 28, 2021, 03:49:00 PM
I’ve read this thread and would like to make some corrections.....

The loss of Arlington is supreme but in truth, who didn’t see this coming?
CD lost Bay Meadows, Calder and now Arlington. The world has changed and horse racing as an industry was asleep at the wheel. OTB’s, tracks closing, etc.... it’s a joke that goes back until the 70’s!

Whatever move the industry made was wrong. 100 %, I’ll not go through them all, not enough room! The bettors and tide was going right, the industry went left.
Some tried, but were overruled, out voted or told to shut up and hide in the corner.

Priest wants Dick Duchossois to explain what happened 20 years after he sold the joint. The man was born on October 7, 1921. He will be 100 years old this year.
He sold the place after it was closed for 2 years to CD for 4 million shares of their stock. Anyone care to guess at CD’s price in 2000? Per usual he made a fortune..... And then some! The man is NO DUMMY......

I lived there 83-89, through the fire, the 85 million, yes same year as the fire.
86 & 87 under the tents, Manila 14-10-4-0 in 87, closed in 88 for construction and the current or lack there of plant was established in 89.

Dicky D. Was an operator, a decorated WWII Veteran, an operator who zigged and zagged. He made trades in the pits on LaSalle St. that were let’s say questionable. Who cares. That place made millionaires out of high school drop outs and broke them again.

Once one of the guys from whatever network carried the Million in the early days asked him to hold post for the Beverly D.(named for his ex-wife) 3-4 minutes so they could show it on tv.....Guess what his answer was?

They had a bet before simulcasting called the super bet in Illinois only 85-88 only. The 3rd, 4th and 5th races of the day you had to pick exacta, exacta and trifecta on the cards 3 worst races. Now again remember the timing!!! Steve Crist had not written about the pick 6, there was not a pick 3,4, or 5 in thoroughbred land.......
NO ONE (self included) knew how to bet YET! Most guys boxed 3 horses in the exacta’s, 4 in the trifecta, $864 for a buck in 1985......

There was an “investment group from Philly” that showed up and hit several super bets. They would show after a few days of carryover. Remember the year 1985, no or very little simulcasting.  Arlington would handle a million a bit over a day, 2 million plus on a really big day. These guys would show up after the pool got up to 1/2 a million bucks or so. They bet 20k, 40k, 60k keeping on getting bigger as the play went on.

They showed at Arlington on 2 days before July 31, 1985. I’m not sure of the days of the week. They played 20 & 40k into it, it carried over. Day 3 they showed up and were called into DD’s office. No play, there money was no longer any good, they were barred from the track. That night Arlington Park burnt to the ground. 🤫

DD was a super business man and of course had an insurance policy that actually paid him every day he could not operate. It gave him the money to build the new Arlington 89-97 before the industry could not once again figure out the future as stated by billk5300 and cjestice.

The rest is history, BAD like the rest of the industry screaming back to the 70’s.

Ask the Experts / Re: Following an 0-2X
February 14, 2021, 03:59:41 AM
This was no where near an 0-2-X, one of the most misunderstood patterns here.
-0, -2.1, -5.3
The race was 63 days ago, it clearly states in the definition the races cannot be more than 42 days apart.

I bet the nag as well but this was no 0-2-X.

Add in:
No Lasix
No whips
Bobby, Chad and the usual suspects.
Bots eating up 35% of the pools at the majors.
No need for FD to dig up any coffee cans to bet 😎
Oh YEAH now we have the Federal government involved in regulating while Nero & Charlie Daniels are breaking strings......
The Federal Government, the ONLY entity on Gods Green Earth that can come up with the BRILLIANT IDEA to pay people more money not to work than they made working!!!

The future is SOOOOO BRIGHT.....

Ask the Experts / Re: Guessing there was a dead rail today
September 04, 2020, 05:10:04 PM
I guess I was watching different races today?

10 dirt races, 4 were won by horses 2/1 or less, 3,6,10,11
The 4th the 3 went Coast to Coast on the rail @ 7/2 2nd choice.
The 3rd was 1/2 exacta who both sat the fence and tipped out to pass the tiring speed in the stretch.
The 8th was a pace battle royal that collapsed.
1 & 2 were wide open maiden heats
The Oaks? Because Johnny V. Rode off the rail.... That’s news and Roger N. Just posted on an email string he was probably trying to avoid traffic....

Today @ 11:39 they scratched the 5th race MTO’S while it was pouring and a weather map a clueless clown could read......

At 12:06 they took the 5th and 3 other races off the grass.

Their website lists the track as fast/firm with the 3rd on both the Mellon & inner  courses, the 6th on the inner and off the turf....

You could not possibly be more incompetent if you tried.

JB,

Very far from politically correct.... But a good line, one has to admit!
It’s actually still listed in the Spanish Urban Dictionary. I guess I’ll live with Rocky & Richiebee tearing down the Frank D. Statue in the back yard.

What could possibly be more absurd in a game with a laundry list of serious problems jumping over Lasix to discuss if fillies, mares, colts & geldings should be refereed to as They, Them & Theirs.....

Really?

JB,

Not so quick to sing Sinatra’s praises. He was at the helm at Laurel a couple years ago when Vitali had 30 plus violations in Florida. Instead of facing his FL violations Vitali simply surrendered his Florida license. He not only was allowed to enter at Laurel, a Stronach track. I believe he was leading trainer there that year or at worst a top 3?

Just like with Potts @ NYRA, it’s about filling the entries for the handle.

Nero is in good company, he now has Charlie Daniels fiddling with him as Rome and racing burn baby burn......

Would anyone care to offer their best Ricky Ricardo explanation of how
Wayne Potts was able to run a horse at the Spa yesterday when Charles Town won’t take his entries?

Oh and by the way.... Our Destiny ran significantly faster yesterday than he ever had before. As Oscar Barrera once said when asked about one of his miracles.
“ I put da blinkers on him”

Gulfstream’s 🌈 as well Rock, it happened a few years back. The player hit repeat bet by accident, it was a small play that hit and would have been the only single ticket. I recall it was a decent or would have been a decent pay day but not life changing.

IMHO: It defeats the entire purpose of the bets structure. In the get more handle regardless of who or how it hurts/helps business mode, it’s just another advantage for the BOTS.... A 10% or 12% rebate on a $2 10k ticket or a $10 50k ticket? Plus they still collect a single ticket payout or an inordinate number of shared winning tickets/consolations.
