I think that results should stand in any inquiry where the Stew\'s take more than 3 minutes decide. After that period of time it becomes a coin flip anyway. I also think it is a waste of time talking to both jockeys, especially the one that was on the suspected horse. I can maybe see talking to a jockey, only if the jock claimed the foul....and only for 30 seconds.

Ask the Experts / Are handles going to rise because of Betfair?
November 03, 2009, 06:41:06 AM
My answer is yes. How much? I\'m thinking between 10-25%.
Most domestic ADWs do not take customers from Europe. Now, the Betfair customers
will have direct access to our pools. I think this is a mistake by Betfair but a
good move by tracks who sign up with them.
Quite a few times, the odds are better on track than on the exchange. This will cause players who like the horse to possibly bet into our pools. Many times, players like a couple of horses in a race, and now they have an option to play an exactor, again, in our pools.
But back to Betfair. They have been successful because of lower commissions (takeout). Their players last a lot longer because of it, and many revolve their spare time around playing at Betfair. But gamblers are gamblers, and most don\'t take takeout into account when they play. Everyone wants to make a score. The temptation will be too great to use some or a lot of their gambling money and play it into the North American pools that have takeouts ranging from 12%-31%. Our takeouts are bankroll killers. Most gamblers do not have a bottomless pit of money supply. Betfair may find that their core business goes down because of this initiative. Time will tell.

And by the wording of the LA Times article on the topic, it looks like the intention is to do it soon. Here is the dirt on the subject:

Some players say ho hum. I think it is a great new free resource, and it is about time.
Now I don\'t have to bang my head on my keyboard wondering if a race is off the grass or not.

Great letter. Racing just doesn\'t go out of its way sharing \"dirty little secrets.\"
This is a huge problem. It seems every track is allowed to regulate themselves disclosing only what they want to.
Try finding track takeouts at any track web site. That kind of stuff should be mandatory. So should any drug or jockey violation.
We seemed to have more information in the 70\'s than we do now regarding most wrong doings that go on at the track.

Ask the Experts / HANA race of the week
July 15, 2009, 09:59:01 AM
We are trying Mountaineer Race 2 on Friday night this time out.
Last time we played the Mountain we did an estimated $15,000 in new money.
We\'d like to blow that away this time out, so anyone\'s support will be much appreciated.

Last week we actually think we did close to 100k in extra betting at Monmouth.
