Smith, Albarado, Chavez everyone develops some prejudice from time to time but the truth is they all win thier share of races. Basically if they are on the right horse they will win. True we are human and make mistakes but it isn\'t continuous. Also trainers sometimes know details about thier horses that isn\'t published in the form or reflected on the TG. Example Belmont\'s 9th race Sun 5/17 Fairway Drive.

If RA skips the Belmont does Calvin get the mount back on MTB? and if he were to win the Belmont with MTB he probably could have been the triple crown winner, (assumming racing luck would\'ve been better to him in the Preakness.)if he chose to ride MTB instead of RA

Read the book Freakonomics by Steven Leavitt. Steve claims that racing is corrupt yet he developed a system that is successful, but isn\'t disclosing it. I would like to know in what way does he think racing is corrupt?

Ask the Experts / Re: Horse of the Year

What is the criteria for selecting a horse of the year? I think what racing fans want is the horse who crosses the finish line first in exciting fashion against grade one competition. I expect the voters would use that template rather than some embellished reasoning.

Forgive my skepticism but this take action nonsense is so cliche.Elections are stolen, crimes go unpunished,Wall street rapes main street and the victims are forced to make restitution- Where\'s the outrage? where\'s the revolt? We are a country of patsies, why would anyone care about a tax wagering overage??

How will racing replace the old crumudgens with the new young demographic? Its already a deterrent learning that a lot of studying and learning experience goes into handicapping races. If only the suits realized this and work to make the track more accessible and attractive to the younger crowd and also women. Stop nickel and diming the patrons, dont penalize them for showing up. Sell the product (RACING) and you wouldn\'t need an excuse(GIVEAWAYS) to fill seats.

Most of these talking heads/public handicappers are usually horrible, why would Jan be any different? Besides we go through the trouble of compiling information not readily available to the tourists/novices,we wouldn\'t want that info freely dispersed. I do believe that the public handicappers are better than thier published results. If they bet a horse based on its sheet # He/She won\'t disclose that fact publicly.

The Suburban winner had a bettable line into the race, but is trained by a questionable trainer does that affect your opinion? Im confident that tricky will use any advantage to win. Isn\'t that the objective? to cash those nice tickets? Unless they demand zero tolerance on race day meds the chicanery will continue.

Ask the Experts / Re: Is there a worse jerk in racing than Dutrow?
June 10, 2008, 06:14:02 PM
It was an easy decision to scratch Casino Drive because of the foot. In BB\'s case missing training because of his quarter crack with the TC on the line wasn\'t as easy.As the trainer I would want some feedback from my horse to be sure he\'s ready for a mile and a half race, instead he was coddled and obviously wasn\'t ready to run. My guess is that BB\'s foot was bothering him on Saturday- I won\'t be surprised if the foot is infected. instead of blaming the jockey Dutrow the NYRA and IEAH share some of the blame for running a sore horse

The outcome of the Belmont validates what the sheets say about BBs chances of winning. One of the problems is the way BB won the Preakness, albeit the ones who skipped the race and waited for the Belmont.Add to that the effect the media \"SPIN\" has on rational thought and the horse takes on an air of invincibility-except to a believer of the sheet numbers

If I remember, Did\'nt Risen Star win the Belmont by 11 lengths racing with a quarter crack?
