Ask the Experts / Re: Belmont cancelled friday
September 28, 2012, 03:13:53 PM
For Saturday, I would expect the dirt to be good for the first race and fast thereafter.  My best guess is a very soft turf early and firming up a little (but not much) through the day.  Only question is what they\'ll do with the first 1 or 2 non-stakes turf races.  OFF or ON?  Any thoughts?

I went to kee select last month, but I\'ve used twin spires since they opened.  Frankly, absolutely no difference between the two in appearance and service.  Kee folks are pretty folksy and I\'ve gotten a couple nice welcome cards and a ball cap.  The cap was pretty cheap, however.  They would have me forever if I could just get a parking pass for the meets.  Nothing special, just a parking pass.

Ask the Experts / Re: Michael Maker's crippled horses
October 23, 2010, 08:43:56 AM
Your point is well made.  But just out of curiosity, if a jockey for legitimate reasons thinks the horse is off but is intimidated into riding it anyway, does the owner and trainer think they bear ANY responsibility?  Will they be there to help the jock transfer from his wheelchair to the toilet?  To just say that it\'s a risk that comes with the job and that once they climb on, they can\'t get off just seems pretty callous.

Ask the Experts / Michael Maker's crippled horses
October 23, 2010, 07:55:49 AM
Garrett Gomez took off of a Ramsey/Maker horse earlier this week because he didn\'t think the horse was warming up properly.  Since then both Ramsey and Maker have replaced Gomez on every mount.  I suggest that the next crippled horse they decide to run perhaps they should just strap Sarah Ramsey on.  Then Kenny boy just might understand what\'s at stake in REAL LIFE.

Ask the Experts / Can't make sense of this Kee entry
October 18, 2010, 05:11:56 PM
Kee, Wed., 10/20, R7, RONIN JUSTICE, P#5.  One of the first 3 questions I ask when handicapping is WHY is this horse is entered???  Anybody looking at Kee tomorrow, let me know what you think.  I don\'t believe I\'ve seen a horse over-entered like this in a long time.

Ask the Experts / 96 degrees at post time...lasix?
June 05, 2008, 03:21:45 PM
lasix is a diuretic which means it helps your body get rid of water.  On a 96 degree day this is not a good thing unless you\'re paris hilton.  Curious where people stand regarding risk of sweating and peeing too much vs. not having the inate benefits that seem to go with the big L.  So does Casino Drive move up or down compared to a 78 degree day?

Ask the Experts / Who moves up the most on wet???
April 30, 2008, 04:41:05 PM
Could be wet.  Throw out CJ?  Move up BB (if thats possible)?  Pyro\'s top was the BC slop.  Easier to throw out the bluegrass if it comes up wet?  I don\'t know what to do?
