Ask the Experts / Epic Adventure or ....

Good morning Horseplayers! Short story long, back in October my friend and I decided that we needed to check off going to the Derby from the bucket list. I couldnt get lodging so found an RV for rent and began looking for places to stay. Made a reservation at Derbypark RV and waited for tickets to go on sale. Bought a Oaks/Derby package and settled on Infield Final Turn. About a month ago the RV rental fell through but the good folks at the RV park offered me a tent site. I\'m an experienced camper so figured, why not? Leave Saratoga 3am Wed morning and hope to have camp set up by dinner. Has anyone enjoyed the race from the section I mentioned? Any advice on must do activities would be most welcome! Thanks and good luck

I agree, I thought there was was enough to take down AmerRev. That ride on Friday has to cost him days, even if over the holidays.

Ask the Experts / THORO-LY Thank You
July 04, 2020, 06:21:38 AM
Hello all, a quick shout out to all the folks over at Thoro-Graph. Really  appreciate the Belmont Stakes seminar as well as the association with NYRABETS so that we can lower the ancillary costs associated with horseplaying. My friends and I had the unique opportunity to sit with Chris Kay a few years back and there were 2 points he wanted to drive home. #1 is the amount of people trying to steal from NYRA and racing. #2 is everybody wanted a handout from NYRA (free admission ect) but didnt ask it from other racing stake holders. TG and NYRA together remedy that point. Its folly to try and defend NYRA, I\'m just saying thanks and looking forward. To that point there are 2 NYRABETS promotions for today that s/b publicized. Free $10 bet on the Investec Derby (11:55 est). Bet $10 to win and if you dont you get it back. FWIW, the 6 Kemeko is taking money but I\'ll land else where. I wagered on a Kittens Joy progeny in the Irish Derby and when the running started was up the track. I\'m looking at Russian Emperor. NYRABETS is also boosting you win bet on the Met Mile to 5-1 is your selection goes off shorter. I\'m a small bettor and these gifts are nice.

Anyway, Happy Independence Day and God bless America. Be safe all, have fun, enjoy the day however you spend it!

Hearing the same thing. Lead story on the local news was a small outbreak tied to visitors from Florida. People will understandably flock to those places that are open. I feel for the owners that were unable to attend the Belmont Stakes. If ever there was a place to practice social distancing, Belmont Park is it ... Good luck all, be safe, have fun!

Cheers

Ask the Experts / Belmont Track condition
October 27, 2019, 08:23:04 AM
For those looking at the Empire 6 Off turf and track is sloppy. Rosario/Cancel picking up some extra mounts as Declan Carrol off, significant change perhaps. Scratches coming soon, likely decremental squared! I second JB, excellent choice and use of the word. Well done.

Ask the Experts / Re: Question for rezlagal?

I\'m in! The Derby Gods have spoken, The West\'s sold their soul in an attempt to win the KY Drby with a trainer who puts up some stats that are outliers in the sport. I genuinely feel bad for them because they invest and racing needs them. As to the inquiry/objection and how it came about, who cares as long as they got it right. They did. Good for Prat for saying something. Who on here hasnt thought a thousand times I hope they look at that!! And don\'t. I\'m going to work on my thirst and look forward to meeting rezlegal, claim my prize and promptly reciprocate.

Oh - hats off to Tom Amoss. I was critical of his running Serengti. Turns out he was completly informative in the days up to the race explaining his rational.

Good luck all.

Excellent point all around but really important with regards to this procedure. Question about Lasix and workouts and how it relates to Serengeti. Heard All Stall on Byk and he said she bled a 6 on a 1 to 5 scale and bled through Lasix. He comes back and works her (on lasix) and pronounces her healthy. Now we are supposed to find out in the KY Oaks?? Maybe a test run somewhere, no? Watching her limp across the finish line with blood pouring from her nostrils followed by a van ride would be awesome publicity. Not with my money.

I\'ll be watching the races from the Wynn Sports book in Las Vegas. PM me if in the area and want to have a drink. Good luck all

Lets take a look at Serengeti Empress. Is she now (or was all along) a confirmed bleeder. She bled through Lasix and finished up the track at what 3-5? I heard Steve Byk comment on it today advocating for the drug. If you didnt like her you had to play \"all\" imo. What did the analysis say? How is the horseplayer protected in these situations? Those supporting the use of Lasix are going to lose simply because you cant really defend it.

Talk Derby to me! Have lost 2 years in a row on Drby future wagers where I had seemingly good chances at a very nice score. Classic Empire and Mendellsohn, both broke from 14 and were clobbered at the start. I didnt even get the satisfaction of losing courageously... This year I keyed Game Winner and Roadster over a lot. I\'ll be in Vegas for the race.. any suggestions? As always, appreciate everyone who takes the time speak out on the game we love. Best of luck to the new head of NYRA, David O\'Rourke, may he find great success.

Ladies and Gentlemen Furosemide, Salix, Lasix ect has been proven scientifically to be a performance enhancing drug. Anyone with just a bit of common sense could make an reasonable argument that the \"reaction\" to taking such a drug during physical exertion will probably be detrimental to overall health over time. An analogy might be the morning after cashing a big ticket at the Spa. I and others I know require ample recover time just to get back out there. By meets end? On the shelf ... Seriously though, its not good for the horse.

Ask the Experts / NHC Qualifier
November 28, 2018, 04:56:27 PM
Anyone going to be at Monmouth this Saturday for their NHC contest? If so send a PM, would be great to say hello. Also, ever hear of the NY State Handicapping Championship? Run by the \"Racino ADW\'s\". Can also win an NHC seat. Anyway... I see my good friend Felix is back in the states again. Mendelsohn that is. Would love to hear thoughts on the way he has been campaigned. The NYRA crew has been particularly tough on him and his antics. I will say this though, they give him his props post race. I wonder if his performance would be better with a more thought out (traditional) schedule. Lots of frequent flyer miles. I also think that his results would have been different with an American based jock. Love Ryan Moore but judge of pace on dirt does not seem to be his strongest skill. Well, I wont be betting him forever because he\'s heading to the breeding shed soon... good luck all

Mendelssohn is definitely quick out of the gate and is also being hustled to boot.  He has shown though he can sit behind (just) and settle. Not sure what that deal is with that ride in the JCGC though. If he doesnt chase the race is for 2nd most likely, so he goes. I guess they were trying to win the race. Cant imagine that being the best way to leg up a horse for the next one. Maybe he was a bit short in the Dwyer and had a touch of the illness that went through the barn and is now starting to peak. 6 weeks later if he is lone speed he could be gone. Lets see what happens this weekend over in France, see if his horses run well.
