Stewart Elliot, Ronnie Franklin, and even Calvin Borel when going for his personal triple crown made one fatal mistake on Belmont Stakes Day. I believe that they did not have a mount or enough mounts on the undercard of Belmont Stakes Day so they were unable to get a feel for how Big Sandy is. Even if its one race, Super Mario better get a feel with at least one mount one the day. You have to give the kid credit that in 4 starts this year, he has given the horse flawless perfect rides. The question is can he do it again in the Belmont Stakes? From prior history, he has a huge mountain to climb especially now with a big field of 13 expected. I would agree that the distance, pressure, and inexperience over Belmont is all going to come to a head on June 9th and it will be interesting to see what happens. Just hoping for fast and firm that day. That\'s all.

Ask the Experts / Re: Mike Smith

Mike Smith did everything right on Bodemeister. There is not question about it. The man won over 5,000 races and is tied for the most Breeders Cup Wins with Jerry Bailey and is in the hall of fame. Bodemeister got ran down by a horse that was in the right part of the track today at Churchill, which was outside 2-3 path.
As for Union Rags, if I were Matz or the owners, I would go get Castellano back for the next mount. The horse showed brilliant speed as a 2 year old with Castellano aboard, and yes he was aboard him for his brutal trip in the Juvenile. The horse needs an aggressive gate rider, and Leparoux has never been known to aggressively shove anything out of the gate. The track and rider\'s lack of aggressiveness along with the Dixie Union pedigree was his undoing. You know if you are 17th at first call you will need to manuever through traffic.

Ask the Experts / Re: THE GREATEST HORSE IN HISTORY UP IN TIME!!!

This is how the horse looks when Dutrow is not putting steroids in him every 15th of the month. He is an very good horse in a so-so class. Just look at the results of the first place finisher of the Belmont in last weeks Jim Dandy.

RAGS TO RICHES LOSING TODAY SHOWS THAT THE BELMONT RACE WAS A \"FLUKE\" AND THAT THEY MADE SURE TO KEEP CURLIN BOXED IN. FINALLY, A HORSE CAME ON HER OUTSIDE AND WENT BY HER. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEATEN THAT FIELD EASILY ESPECIALLY THE FACT THAT IT WAS RESTRICTED TO HER OWN AGE AND SEX OF 3 YO FILLES. TAKE NOTHING AWAY FROM LEAR\'S PRINCESS WHO IS A NICE FILLY, BUT RAGS TO RICHES SHOULD HAVE BEATEN THE FIELD EASILY STILL. DON\'T YOU FIND IT INTERESTING THAT ALL THREE PLETCHER HORSES OWNED BY MICHAEL TABOR TODAY RAN LIKE THEY DID. THE GREEN MONKEY, THE LEOPARD, AND RAGS TO THE RICHES ALL WERE NOT FULLY CRANKED UP. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE LAST TIME IN A BIG RACE WHERE A PLETCHER HORSE WAS PASSED THE LAST 1/8 OF MILE. SHE WILL PROBABLY GET A DECENT FIGURE OF 1 OR 0 BECAUSE OF WEIGHT AND BEING THREE WIDE, BUT AS FOR THE BREEDERS CUP, WILL SHE BE ABLE TO RACE WIDE AND OVERCOME THAT ON A SPEED BIASED RACE TRACK LIKE MONMOUTH?

Ask the Experts / Re: Garrett Bashing??
June 13, 2007, 08:31:42 PM
Hey did anyone notice how Gomez ensured to watch Curlin all the way around and keep him in tight and boxed to ensure the filly got a shot at him. If you watched him around the turn he made sure that the spot was tight to get through because Curlin\'s momentum was stopped for a moment around the turn while Rags to Riches was in the clear wide. I am tired of hearing about the wide trip of Rags to Riches because that is the place to be at Belmont on the Main and Widener Turf Course (Ask Julie Krone who rode Colonial Affair wide around the Belmont Stakes in 1991 I believe.) Wide at Belmont is a good thing because of the big sweeping turns. I watched Gomez and he is not a speed jockey at all. He choked Wait a While about 5 times in the race and let My Typhoon get away. Come on Garrett, don\'t you have a clock in your head like other jockeys. Pat Day would have never let that happen. Then GoGo rode Dream Rush to an eye popping 22:1 opening quarter going a one turn mile, which proved to be her undoing in the end. Yes, I am Garrett bashing because I say three questionable rides on Saturday that affected the outcome of each race. I would love to see Curlin versus Street Sense versus Rags to Riches in the Travers. This is exactly what racing needs.

Belmont on Brisbet (76 Views)

What happened to Belmont being offered to Brisbet account holders. I had Aqueduct and now I can not play New York.
How many satellite packages, cable packages, internet wagering accounts, and phone accounts do I need to play, oh say, five or six tracks.
A total of 10..............
Silver Charm, Belmont is only available to individuals with TVG accounts or those who pay through the youbet.com. Its nuts, I have an account with Ameritab/Winticket, which is similar to BRISBET, and TVG got in a beef with them over the accounts and took all their exclusive tracks away. Oh, you can bet Arlington, Hollywood, Calder, etc. over the phone, but not online. TVG is dying a slow death because they were betting it all basically on Street Sense winning and coverage of the Triple Crown. If they don not straighten things out, all those guys will be working for HRTV. Or they will become the Harness Racing Quarter Horse Network. It is time for everyone to get together so that we can have one betting service, one network or a few channels for every track possible. As these entities fight and hurt each other, the harshest victim is not Ameritab, HRTV, TVG, etc, but instead the bettors get screwed.

Ask the Experts / Pletcher 0 for 5
May 05, 2007, 07:48:14 PM
Pletcher goes 0 for 5 with not even sniffing the wire or contending. HMMM..... Unless the derby moves to Gulfstream Park or Saratoga, he will never win a derby unless he gets that super horse that does not need the juice if you know what I mean. His super horse this year could be Rags to Riches. Scat Daddy or as I call him Rat Daddy-Ran at GP for 3 starts with 2 wins and 1 third, hmmm... finishes 18th in the Derby. What is Pletcher\'s record in Dubai 0 for something. How about last years breeders cup, 0 for something for wins. It is not coinciencidental that these things are happening because of the the use of drugs or with some chemistry being involved during the year if you know what I mean. Anyways, Street Sense proved his victory on Breeders Cup Juvenile Day was not just luck or biased because of the golden rail as it may have been for other horses (Dreaming of Anna, Round Pound, Thor\'s Echo to name a few) Congratualations to Street Sense, Calvin Borel an underrated rider on the circuit, Carl Nafzger (a good trainer), and the owners.

Albarado needs a horse to be ten lengths the best in order to win a race. He cannot advance a horse in the lane. There is a reason why he rides on the Fair Grounds Circuit during the Winter. I think Borel is an underrated rider on the circuits he rides on. I would too take Borel over Albarado any day. Especially going a 1 1/4 miles, Albarado will need a compass with Curlin to navigate the course.

Ask the Experts / Re: The Wood Was Slow???
April 09, 2007, 05:58:37 PM
No Biz Like Shobiz ran the final three furlongs in 38.56 seconds, with the final furlong of 13.44 in there. Plus, Magna Graduate won under wraps under the wire. Don\'t get me wrong, No Biz Like Shobiz is a nice horse but once he figures it out professionally, he will be a force to wreckon with. If you watch his Remsen and Holy Bull, he ran the same way lugging out and goofing around into the stretch looking around, while pulling away. In the Wood Memorial, he did not goof around in the stretch but was sharp early with blinkers and rank. Once he figures out how to relax and not goof around in the stretch, he could be a great horse with an explosive acceleration. If he figures that out in time for the derby, I could not tell you.

Ask the Experts / Derby Prep Saturday
April 07, 2007, 04:57:06 PM
After reviewing all three Saturday\'s main preps, The Wood Memorial, The Illinois Derby, and the Santa Anita Derby, it is safe to say that the Kentucky Derby Winner is probably not in those races. A horse that never crossed the wire first won the Santa Anita Derby, No Biz Like Shobiz won in a slow time, and Cowtown Cat won the Illinois Derby and beat a suspect field. Could it finally be the year that a horse with only two preps and Juvenile Champion get the job done? Time will tell.
