I am suffering from Polytrack depression. I can\'t bet these tracks until I feel everyone has some kind of form over it. Otherwise Keeneland\'s and Hollywood\'s meets are just one race after another of horses trying a new surface for the first time. We all have an advantage here of using Jerry\'s numbers but I feel it is lost on Polytrack. Can\'t wait for Gulfstream E

Ask the Experts / Re: Trevor Denman
November 07, 2006, 09:36:04 AM
In general, I agree with you and I love Trevor Denman. People do like to shoot down others because they are jealous. That being said, it is hard for me to believe what a bad day Trevor had. One thing I wonder is about the location of the race callers booth at Churchill and how that might have thrown Trevor off. Makes you appreciate Tom Durkin as he called races from many different racetracks and his calls blew Trevor off the map. Hopefully, this will end the criticism of Durkin whose stock had to rise after Saturday. E

Ask the Experts / Re: Jerry Brown wins DMR Handicapping Contest

That\'s funny because I killed Keeneland using your product the last two years and was worried that I would lose my edge. Your philosophy on this seems sound considering the prices they have been putting up at Turfway. Also remember that Keeneland offers low takeout on pick 3 and pick 4 bets and they often pay huge to the parlay Good luck and thanks E

Hey Jerry I wanted your opinion on something. Polytrack comes to Keeneland this week and I played last Saturday\'s Turfway card and not only did I lose but found the races very hard to predict. I love Keeneland and don\'t want to skip but I was wondering if you are finding the Polytrack plays profitable or not Thanks E

Plus I don\'t see such big number power in his favor and a bad trip/small bounce could lead to a defeat. I am skipping myself but I am hoping for a Bernadini win as it\'s been a bad week for good horses (like Saint Liam and Lost in the Fog) Seems like racing could use a new star E

Ask the Experts / Re: Figure Study
July 18, 2006, 10:13:16 AM
I am a converted Ragozin customer to your service. If you check my account activity I am a pretty good customer and have had a lot of success using your product ( although I only came in 26th out of 207 in the Belmont Park Handicapping contest sorry for letting the Thorograph down) but for the life of me I can\'t see why you are bothering with this study. For all the effort, I can\'t imagine any big statistical difference between you and Ragozin and I think you are missing the point of why customers like me made the switch. You always seem to be thinking of innovative new ways to use the figures to help gamblers win while Len Friedman, at his seminars, tends to suggest that his method of reading the sheets has been profitable for him and he will continue on this path. You made a good point last week about a horse at Belmont who had good sheet numbers and in the past you and Len would have caught him at a much bigger price if not for more people being aware of the figures. I will tell you that I notice many horses being much shorter than they should be because their last figure is very strong and I know people who use your product and just pound horses that have fast last figures and take no account of the overall pattern. I believe those bettors are creating value for someone like me who has spent time learning how to \"read\" the sheets. That being said it makes your study even more of a waste of time. Best of luck on it though and keep trying new things. Even if they don\'t work, it makes customers like me think you are earning my money. E

Ask the Experts / Re: On the contrary

A bird in the hand. Of course it is better to get all of the money in your hand and pay the taxes later(if you can\'t offset them which I find hard to believe unless it\'s a real big number) but to think the winnings are diluted by small players pushing all buttons is ridiculous. They just add to the pool which can\'t be bad. To change topics a bit, what about takeout. Monmouth offers a 15% takeout pick 4 twice a day. The problem is with the pool hovering around 20k it is a great bet when the parlay is 500-2000 as the payouts are oftens 2 to 5 times the parlay but eventually the pick 4 should pay over 20k and you will be stuck with a ticket that is short due to pool size. I guess the pick 4 probably will only pay 20k a couple a times a meet but it is still a factor. Maybe Monmouth should offer 10 cent pick 4\'s. E

for a veteran horseplayer like myself, I find it hard to beleive any of us can be critical of Len Friedman\'s handicapping. The guy is great. I use Thorograph because I like the numbers better but every time Len or Jerry take time out to go over a race for free it adds value to all of their customers. We all call races completely wrong from time to time. Let\'s try to keep that in mind. Happy Hunting E

Ask the Experts / Re: The Triple Crown needs Restructuring
May 23, 2006, 09:54:18 AM
Silver Charm with all due respect I can\'t disagree more. I travel every year from Long Island to Baltimore for the Black Eyed Susan/Pimlico Special Card and Preakness Day at Pimlico. In the 10 years I have gone it is amazing what a dump the place was and has become. ON Black Eyed Susan day they get a decent crowd but think of the numbers on Preakness day. Admission to the infield was $55 and 80% of that 118,000 crowd was on the infield. The other people paid between $20 and $155 for tickets to the grandstand. This is what keeps Pimlico in business. I would think it would take an act of God for Pimlico to change the date and mess with the cash cow that is the Preakness. Barbaro\'s injury is tragic but the Derby winner usually fares well in Baltimore and this small world that we horseplayers live in wherein we understand that running in the Triple Crown series leads to these horses never being the same again but to the suits at Pimlico I doubt they care much. I think your heart is in the right place but that is not what rules the business world. Good luck on the Belmont E
